And in the alternative universe, where they might manage to kick him out, the only option is Harris, its far too late for any1 else. The first early voting starts in September, but the first ballot access deadlines are early August. Harris is already on the ballot, coz shes the VP, nobody else can get on the ballot, even if the Dems decided to not only kick out the sitting President, who won the primaries, but also kick out the sitting VP, and go through a process, that doesnt exist, to find a brand new nominee. Plus, a new person, whether Hillary or any1 else, does not have time to get a campaign going, nor do they have any money, as the donations were made for the Biden/Harris campaign and cannot be passed on to any1 else. But thats all hypothetical, coz nobody can force Biden to withdraw at this point, its far too late. Not to mention, that it would almost certainly mean defeat in November to change everything at this very late date. All the ppl talking about their behinds simply do not understand, how complex and difficult replacing a candidate is, let alone a candidate that is also a sitting president, even if that candidate was willing to do so. David...Sir... You are the most level-headed, least hyperbolic, liberal, independent commentator that I follow. Yet, you seem to get the most undeserved grief. I think we are all feeling confused, scared, and don't know what to do, who to trust, where to find answers... help... hope. Some people just need someone to blame to make them feel some sort of security, reassurance, or "control" in a sociopolitical climate that is out of control and becoming more violent by the day. Anyone who is feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, &/or overtly scared, please, take a break from "news" of current affairs and social media. I've had to. Anyone who makes my anxiety rise I've stopped watching. Or have pulled way, WAY back from. I've had to dial down my absorption of daily inundation of horrible events, not just in America but around the globe. I just "check-in" every few days... sometimes less than weekly. If something really important occurs, I'll see it & and pay attention for a day or two. Otherwise, I have a creative hobby, or I'll work outside a bit. I can't due to disability. But I'm sure taking regular walks can be very cathartic. It doesn't mean I'm not keeping abreast or "not" voting. I fully intend to #VoteBlueDownBallot. Though, not my ideal, it's the only sensible option this cycle, on many levels.💙 Again... please, if it's all too distressing... just step back a bit & give your heart & mind a break.
