As part of the world (I'm European), Musk and Trump are the last people I'd trust to fix the world. If anything, I always got the impression that people like him or putin, Orban, etc. are "burn it all down" kind of people. And I get they're trying to stay out of prison, but I think there's a nihilistic theme with populists: they're not trying to build anything to replace a broken world order, they just want to ruin it for others. I don't think most Trump voters in the US have any hope left for the future, they voted for him, because he's going to hurt the people they don't like. *The small town, unsophisticated (I hate that term!) and guttural affinity with Trump's simplistic agenda is easily explained and understood, by one thing, and it's the one thing that predates the ubiquitous influence of social media even - it's 'The Apprentice', the TV show. This telly programme meant that Trump was firmly affixed in the living rooms and heads of millions & millions of ordinary hard-working Americans, for years and years before he ever came down that escalator, and anyone who thinks this wasn't, and still isn't, of enormous import is detached from reality. Or perhaps more accurately detached from reality TV. The TV that the "educated elites" never watched anyway. And when an American presidential election is decided by a mere fraction of the American population in a small handful of swing states, it counts David... Oh boy, it **_really_** counts!* 👍😎🇬🇧💚🍺

You hit the nail on the orange head! I never watched it or any reality show because they are all fake!! The votes he got are roughly the viewership of the show that was on for some 10 years before he moved to politics I'm sure for the attention he craves!!! Note: He is the only CEO they approached that accepted and he jumped on it!!!!!
