Yall forget what Thibs did with/for Hartenstein. When Mitch first got hurt and IHart went into the starting lineup, IHart was TERRIBLE defensively. Literally NY was in the bottom of almost every defensive category. Then gradually IHart all of a sudden became one of the best interior bigs defensively. I’m not saying KAT is gonna become Ben Wallace but I HIGHLY doubt Thibs would sign off on this deal unless he’s confident he can make KAT a good defensive Big with this team

Wolves fan here. Enjoy Kat just standing at the 3 point line, refusing to use his talent in the paint and clog the perimeter. He will also take himself out of half the games he plays because he picks up 3 fousl in the 1st quarter half his games. This is a 8 year product. It's not gonna change. Sure hes a nice shooter, but he has so many liabilities, and according to the athletic, there wasnt a big market for him because GM's see this, and don't like his cry baby attitude.

The problem is that there’s two ways to view this, the first makes the Knicks better and the timberwolves suck aside from doubling down on Naz Reid and getting donte, the other way to look at it is chemistry, randle is ass sometimes, but he’s a dog, ant and randle are dogs, Kat has been routinely criticized for being Uber soft, and he’s going into one of the most hostile environments for a athlete in general, at the end of the day tho, all things go right, timberwolves get worse cause glen taylor is the deadly sim of greed embodied and Jokic stopping team can no longer stop Jokic, but does get some nice roleplayers maybe more development, and the Knicks can go genuinely band for band with the celtics

As a die-hard Knicks fan, I'm so conflicted on this trade KAT is a star center, but I don't think he makes em better at center but how does that work on the floor and to give up Donate is a bench blow he's a defensive dog a hard working scorer and can give you 16 on avg a night off the bench Randle is a work horse that will give you 22ppg and 10 rpg . Wolves fan here. I can't stand KAT. He refuses to play any interior offense or post. He just is obsessed with clogging the perimeter and standing at the 3 line, and then tries to act like a SG slashing to the rim, and draws charges constantly. Half the games he plays, he picks up 3 fouls in the first quarter, and takes himself out of games. He did this with Thibs in MN too, so its not like its gonna change after 8 years. Naz Reid is the better player at this point and thats why the wolves made the trade. We were way better with Naz on the floor. Sure Kat has some special talent, but his IQ is so low and he doesn't use it properly, and his crying and whining make it worse. I am telling you, you will find this out very very soon. lol

KAT guarding at the 5 was a problem in MN for years. He is a very untraditional 7 ft'er [good and bad], and is often overmatched when defending the 5. That can really frustrate him and lead to foul trouble and the pouty attitude. Say what you will about goberts individual talent, but what he does to the court defensively at the 5 transformed the wolves into a contender. If KAT was in that spot, the wolves would be without their identity

I’m a diehard Knicks fan and honestly I’m not too upset about the Randle for KAT swap but losing Donte man I was talking to ChillTown and he was like “it’s like losing a family member.” He is absolutely right. We never got to see the team all together and the chemistry between the group of friends be shown. I’m so devastated we lost Donte but as far as Randle I mean I feel like they kind of balance each other out in terms of performance especially the fact that we know they can perform bad in the playoffs.
