Wes my main concern with following you suggestion of starting a KZbin channel is that I would add a full time job (which I also still have to learn how to do) to my full time job.

I hear ya but its not necessarily the case. If you use AI the right way to help you get to a finished script quickly, and if you batch produce a months worth at a time, you can do it all in 5 days of the month, or a few weekends, or even in the evenings. When you consider the benefits it will bring to your business, its the best time you'll ever spend, trust me on that.

Spot on about the shift to value-focused, less edited content, Wes. The move from "retention editing" to authentic connection is key. Curious about your take on balancing simplicity with brand uniqueness in this new landscape. Any tips for businesses transitioning from over-produced to more genuine content?

Thanks Wes… Your website videos are awesome, but this KZbin video is also perfect timing… I’m starting a channel for my practice, both to help patients and inspire people to consider my practice. I have the basics A space to record, lights camera and video ideas / content… May I ask what editing software you use? I a totally newby regarding editing and face filters etc… You seem to have that dialled really well… Can you please do a “beginners video” on that? Thanks again.

Thanks, Wes. As I was watching through this video I realized that I always been watching videos for the learning experience not the entertainment so I've consumed tons of podcast style videos where the person or people are just talking and sharing golden nuggets relevant to me and my business. I think retention editing might still be relevant for pure entertainment content. For education, I personally don't care if video is using fancy 3D animation to illustrate a point or there's just someone drawing on a board with a marker. As long as I get value out of it and it is not filled with fluff I stay and watch all the way

Great video, Wes! I absolutely love your videos. I love the colors in the lighting, the way you move around your house, and the B-roll is always on point and fun to watch as well. You've been saying for a while that we need to start a KZbin channel for our business. Are you going to make a video or video series about how to make good videos??? I feel like it's time, Wes. You need to divulge all your secrets about making awesome videos.

I really prefer this format. To be honest one of the things I found irritating was the heavy 'furniture being dragged' noise that would happen every time there was a zoom in and out. There was just too much of it. 😅

Hey Wes, would you focus on shorts/reels or longform videos using this technique? Thanks for the content as always
@WesMcDowellInc3 ай бұрын
Great Q, Lily... if you're just starting out, go ahead and make some simple 30-60 second shorts answering FAQs just to get used to talking to the camera, and posting content. But then move onto longform. Shorts wont really help you connect with prospects like longer vids will. But they're great for getting in the reps and practicing!

I find myself closing videos in the first few seconds when the visuals are all stock footage and the narration is AI. I want to hear and see the content creator, otherwise I don't find the video credible.

Stock b roll is awful. I wish guys like Dr berg just wouldn't use it cos half the time it's just ridiculous. And I think it's kinda tired now
@WesMcDowellInc3 ай бұрын
Does it make you stop watching tho?
@personalwatching93123 ай бұрын
@WesMcDowellInc yes sometimes. Just my 2c of course but I wonder whether stock b roll makes the creator feel like they're creating a better video more than the watcher needs it. So for instance, I LOVE your videos and content and your presentation is enough for me. Your choice of jump cuts, zoom, different locations, lighting is exceptional. And when you cut to b roll it actually removes me from the deep focused conversation I'm having in my head with you right now. Guess you could try a couple without b roll and see if watch time is affected? Would be an interesting stat to know definitively. Thanks for whay you do mate. Love from Australia.

@@WesMcDowellIncit makes me lose a lot of trust in a channel that has awful fake stock footage, because it feels so fabricated and disingenuous. But more often than not, I’m listening to long form info videos than I’m listening, usually while I commute I’ll throw on a long video and don’t even look at the visuals, and the information makes sense.
