Caravan is towed by a car. The camper van is an all in one. Hence, caravan park. A trailer is also towed but is for transporting things and not for sleeping in. That's why not a trailer park . 😂

A bit of additional information from a UK perspective. A caravans has to be towed, but one built into a vehicle chassis has always been called a "motor caravan", as the term "camper van" is relatively modern. Likewise, the US term "RV" is also relatively recent as it was better known as "motorhome", sometimes "motor coach".

It's also worth mentioning that an American trailer park and a UK caravan park are also two very very different things. A cravan park is where middle and upper-middle class people take their caravan on holiday, a trailer park is cheap housing for poorer people.

@7:00 - A Camper Van is when the driving vehicle is attached to the living area, a Caravan is when the camper is a separate vehicle that is towed by a car or truck. Caravans have been around longer, hence Caravan Park for locations where they park.

A dressing gown is soft and used by everyone when they’re lounging about at bedtime but not in bed yet and they’re used in the morning when you’re not ready to get washed and dressed yet. A bathrobe is made from a towel or flannel like material designed to dry you when you’re wet after being in the shower or bath.

Typically, I've heard caregivers/carers/support workers used to describe the job that you would call a caretaker, usually working with kids, the elderly, those with mental disorders and/or learning disabilities, patients with chronic illnesses, and the disabled in general. An informal carer is someone without specific professional training, usually being family members and/or friends as members of their support system/social network. A formal carer/support worker would be someone with specific professional training. The key to effective care is of course keeping an open line of communication with the one being supported, as well as respecting their dignity and privacy.

As a Canadian about half of the examples I would use the British word, and almost half I would use the American version. However there are also some times when I would use neither, but instead use a Canadian word (?) For example I wouldn't say dressing gown or bathrobe, but instead I'd say housecoat.

We in the South say the word housecoat also for dressing gown not bathrobe.

Yes we gonna roast a chicken. Hmm I have actually thinking about Italki for sometime now 🤔. Ok year 13 caught me off guard, we say matriculants because they are in matric. We don't say dressing gown, we just say gown. Main street is high way. Yah ER and ICU. We would say you have been retrenched. Curriculym Vitae 👌. We also call it a torch. Oh kana in South Africa we speak British English. Great video Fam ❤

The school years given as British are in fact English. In Scotland we have Primary school which has Primary 1 to Primary 7 , commonly shortened to P1, P2 ...P7. We then go to High School, ( or Secondary school) and have first year, second year etc or S1, S2 etc. With a minimum of 4 years upto a max of 6 years.

The whole area is a garden. The part with flowers is a flower bed. If you have vegetables growing then thats the vegetable patch. So in my garden i could have flower beds, vegetable patch, patio and a lawn. 😊 unfortunately i live in a flat so i have none of these 😅

Actually, we in the UK say yard if there is no lawn. Some older poorer properties had just a concreted outside area. That is a backyard. Janitor is also used in the UK, but it is more antiquated now when I was a kid, late 80s/early 90s, we had no Year 13. We were called Sixth Formers. We also say Haystack, though I think of it as larger than just a bale, more of a mound of several bales

In the UK there is normally a front and a back to your house, the house may be a stand alone house (this is called a detached house) or may be joined to another house (making it a semi detached house) the fronts of these houses have a front garden and the back is the back garden, whatever the design. So having a big garden full of grass is still a garden but has a big lawn in it. Ok?

The best thing about "English" is it's free. It can be taken and adapted by everyone and anyone to suit themselves. There's no central authority on what words are "correct" unlike some languages. That's led to there being a vast number of variations of "English", and they all work for the people who use them, and can fairly easily be moved between with a little adaption by the listener/speaker.

The uk does or did have names for the final years of school, year 12 and 13 are refered to as lower sixth-form (Yr 12) and upper sixth-form (yr13), they typically have a modified version of the school uniform and more leeway with school rules.

Made redundant is not right, "Sacked" or "Terminated", after the first three/six-months you can't just sack someone without verbal and written warnings, otherwise they go to a tribunal for unfair dismissal. Made Redundant means the job no longer exists and they CAN'T employ anyone to do it after you... There's a whole legislative framework for redundancy and redundancy pay that you're entitled too if you've been there over two years...
