Stephanie I would like to share a tip with you and your viewers. Way back when I started baking and cooking with my Grandma there wasn’t such a thing as buttermilk powder, what we do if we don’t have buttermilk on hand is put 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to our cup then add milk to make the needed amount of buttermilk. Let set for 20 minutes or so, stir, and you have buttermilk for your recipe. We have always just grabbed a glass out of the cupboard to cut biscuits out. I love your channel and am looking forward to learning a lot from you. ❤🙏

Another tip for getting biscuits in the pan quickly - when you roll out the dough, shape it in a rectangle and cut it with a knife or bench scraper like you would for brownies or a cake in a pan. Then transfer the squares onto your baking pan, spacing the biscuits about an inch apart and bake as you normally would. No scraps to re-roll. I have also rolled out the dough on parchment paper and lifted the dough directly to the baking sheet and then space the squares out to give them space to rise.

My brother gave me a great tip about his amazing biscuits before he passed away. He laid down a piece of wax paper on the counter made his biscuits on the paper used it to fold the biscuits rather than his warm hands. Then after cutting out his biscuits he rolled up the wax paper and tossed it in the trash. Zero mess. Big talk fluffy biscuits. I miss him😢❤

Not sure if you know this, but you can take milk (whole or 2%) add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to 1 cup of the milk. Let sit for 5 minutes and you have buttermilk. I am going to be trying the bread recipe you made for Jami. That looked so good. Those graters hurt on the fingers lol

Some of my best memories as a child was watching my mom get out the flour and crisco or butter and wave her magic wand and make the biscuit dough. She always let us cut out the biscuits. Then come dinner time I would eat at least 4 of them with butter. Mmmmmmmm good. I sure miss those times.

Stephanie I would like to make a suggestion for you. There are so many older teenagers and young adults that have no idea how to cook basic foods and how to do laundry, make a bed and so on. Yes they can watch a KZbin video but I think having one person showing them how to do this would help. Cooking macaroni both from scratch and a box mix. Things to do with Ramen. Cooking scrambled eggs. There are the ones on campuses that have a microwave, air fryer or toaster oven. Maybe a hot plate. Different ideas to help them survive. Have your older son and Connor and Elora help. They will show that most foods are not hard and don’t take long. Just patience. Show them how to do laundry so they are not sleeping on sheets that haven’t been washed in months. Just an suggestion. It’s you page.

If I run out of self rising flour and I need it right away, I will make my own . 1 cup all purpose flour 1 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt Sift or whisk until well combined. You can double, triple, etc. You can make up a large batch and store it like you do all your flour stuff. I don’t usually use self rising flour, so I just make it as I go. I hope this helps. ❤ Thank you for the buttermilk powder information, also. I’ve seen it in the store, but, I wasn’t sure if it worked as well as the real buttermilk in baking. Have a blessed day y’all. ✝️🙏🏻❤️

Stephanie,. I have that powdered buttermilk as well. Wal-Mart has it if anyone is interested in it. In the isle where the baking soda, baking powder, yeast is . I keep my mine in a zip lock baggie in the refrigerator. If you use it for baking anything, ALWAYS ADD IT TO THE WATER AND DISSOLVE IT FIRST. DO NOT ADD TO THE DRY INGREDIENTS. I did that with a chocolate cake and you could see the buttermilk powder in the cake. 😒 LESSON LEARNED 😊. YOU CAN ALSO FREEZE ANY MILK IF YOU BUY IT AND HAVE LEFT OVERS. I pre measure out 1 cup and freeze each cup in a zip lock baggie.
