How to make Amish Apple Fritters | Quick | No Bake

Learn how to make warm apple fritters filled with fresh apples all covered in a light glaze make for a great use of the abundance of this fall produce with a simple batter that doesn't take long to whip up.
Serves
Ingredients:
Fritters
3 medium apples / 2 1/2 cups granny smith apples, peeled, cored and finely chopped
2 teaspoons lemon juice
28 grams / 2 tablespoons caster sugar
2 large eggs
160 grams / 1 cup plain flour
8 grams / 2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon sea or kosher salt
60 milliliters / 1/4 cup milk
4 cups sunflower or coconut oil
Glaze
115 grams / 1 cup confectioner's/icing sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
15 grams / 1 tablespoon water
Directions:
- Place the finely chopped apples and lemon juice in a bowl, stirring to combine. Set aside.
- Meanwhile, place the sugar and eggs in a bowl and beat until the sugar has dissolved.
- Add in the remaining ingredients and mix until it is a smooth batter.
- Add in the apples and stir through.
- Heat the oil in a medium pot until it reaches 190C/375F with a thermometer or test it out by dropping a small spoonful into the oil and when it bubbles immediately then the oil is ready for frying.
- Drop large spoonfuls into the oil and allow to cook until a golden color and carefully fold over, allowing approximately 2 minutes for each side.
- Remove and allow to cool on paper towels.
- Place all the ingredients in a small bowl for the glaze and mix to combine into a smooth mixture.
- Brush the glaze over the fritters and allow to set.
- Consume within 24 hours.

My husband seen a recipe for apple fritter bread so he sent it to me that’s my hint tht he wants me to make it lol but I came across your video of apple fritters and omg they honestly remind me of my local bakery I am gonna make a batch of these as well and see which I like better I am pretty sure I will love yours tfs again lol tfs god bless.

I love apple fritters. These would leave you with a nice crunch left to your apples and an overall cinnamon warmth tasting fritter. I've tried this method before and it makes a good apple fritter. BTW - I love the tip about the parchment paper. So far my favorite apple fritter recipes are ones that pan fries the apples for a minute with the cinnamon & a Tbsp of sugar, then in the batter uses fresh grated nutmeg. After it's a quick fold into the batter and off you go. The #1 best IMHO was the yeast risen overnight dough with nutmeg, but the quick dough with nutmeg that was leavened like your dough came in a close second.

I bet the pan frying adds a nice slight caramelization for a really delightful flavor! I'm going to have to give this a go in future with the addition of nutmeg. Thanks so much for those tips!!

@@Roamingtaste Yes my favorites do have more of a caramel taste to the apples but it takes more time to fry them up separately than your recipe. If your followers like more of a crunch to the apples your recipe is the way to go.

Hundreds of apples on our 2 trees, so doing whatever I can to make apple 🍎 recipes and freeze apples. Fritters are on the list today! 😋 Do you use like canola oil, or peanut oil to fry?

I personally always use sunflower oil as what I've read it's better for the environment, however, both canola and peanut oil have high smoke point's so are great to use here 😊 As another suggestion for use with those apples, can I recommend a Dutch Apple Tart/Pie - with a brown sugar pastry, it's an incredible apple dish!
