WRAPPING A NEWBORN ON YOUR BACK | Top three carries to easily wear a small baby on your back

In this video, I show you my top three carries when it comes to babywearing newborns on my back. Using a baby wrap can feel complicated, especially when you attempt babywearing on your back, this is made scarier when you think about trying to safely wrap your baby onto your back. I hope that this video can give you a little comfort and some help if this is something that you want to do.
Carries: Ruck, Russian Jordan’s back carry, reinforced double hammock
Please note that you should only be trying this if you are an experienced wrapped and/or you have someone there to help spot you. I recommend trying this over a soft surface such as a bed until you feel confident.

I watched this video when I was pregnant, started practicing at two months old, and now at 4 months I can wrap my baby on my back all by myself. Your instructions are very clear, you and your baby are adorable. I've come back to this video many times to watch your technique. The pants trick DOES work to get a deep seat in a ruck! I notice a difference when I don't have him in pants. I haven't attempted the Jordan's back carry yet, but I will do that next and I am sure I'll watch this video more times to learn.

Where were you when I had my baby in 2019 and trying to figure this out?? Lol. I gave up and front wrapped but every time I was cleaning the house or doing something my hands where needed I find her head would get in the way especially as she got older. And I would say each and every time, “Man I wish I knew how to back wrap” Definitely saving this for the next one. Thank you mama

It’s easy to understand why back carrying is the traditional way; it frees up one’s hands and arms to do work like cooking or gardening and actually puts less strain on the back than front carrying.

It’s called Great Egg-speciations by Robbins Nest Weaving. It has a peppermint weft and green tea modal warp! It’s 4.2m and a complete ace bandage 😍 It’s been used by all three of my kids and I actually helped weave it while I was 9 months pregnant with my first born ❤️

A woven wrap. Handwoven or machine woven would both work perfectly but a stretchy wrap wouldn't work the same or be very safe.

In that case you just need to pull the fabric up between you and baby once baby is on your back, I find this easier with help when they are small. I made a KZbin video for Robbins Nest weaving about different carry’s and if you jump to the double hammock you can see how I created a seat for my daughter without using the pant tuck method.

This is not working for me. Every time I go to pull it tight after I get him on my back it just comes out of his pants 😩

Try putting a large amount in him pants width wise. That way when you tighten and some pulls out there will still be some tucked. Hopefully that helps but if not there are a few other tricks that can help but a lot of it comes down to trying to tighten with the pocket you’ve created if that makes sense. It DEFINITELY gets easier the more times you do it so just keep practicing! ❤️

Where's the written instructions!? I'm furious at how no video ever explains back carry with out a ton of talking or ad interruption, all I get is a crying baby and 100 failed attempts. Also I always get the SAME SAME SAME WOMEN to explain this ever time I steady for how to! I desperately need to back carry!

I know, back carries can be hard. My mom told me that she practiced every day for an entire month with my little brother, before she was ever successful with a back carry. Hang in there, one day it will work for you! Just be safe when practicing.

Back carries are for infants that can support their heads. The instructions on any wrap will also say to allow the head room to move to avoid suffocation risk

I would never put my baby om my back. You never know what can happen and you don't see it. Only cold people do this

Your baby is snug and tight against you and you can feel their breath on your neck and hear them breathing. You can feel every wiggle and sigh. Being firmly attached to your baby is much better for mom and baby than putting them down away from you.

Humans have been back carrying for thousands and thousands of years. It's very natural and safe. Just because not as many people in the West do it this way does not make it "cold". It's good to have your baby with you as much as possible and this is a great way to do it.
