Pittsburghs food scene is a-lot more diverse than burgers, fries, and your typical items you can get at quick service type restaurants. The Japanese food is awesome, Nigerian, Thai, Indian, Italian, Polish, German. So many choices and will take a long time to go through them all. Also, Pittsburgh has a-lot of fine dinging options with some of the best buildings for restaurants. One of my favorite fine dining is called the grand concourse (you can get lunch and other items here as well). It was built from an old 1900’s grand train station. I put Pittsburghs food scene on par if not better than Phillys, thats for sure.

I totally agree. There's some very fine dining establishments here with some amazing views of the city based in skyscraper buildings. All of the ethnicity of restaurants isn't on par, as African cuisine here is basically non-existent but every other ethnicities you mentioned have establishments, especially the Asian eateries.

Something really cool about Penn Brewery is that there are lagering caves still there that were dug into the side of Troy Hill in the 1860s. It's how they cooled the beer before refrigeration. The caves are a constant 55 degrees.
@TheDetourDuo2 жыл бұрын
Woah seriously! That's cool. Are they still accessible?
@GalpsPGH2 жыл бұрын
@@TheDetourDuo Not sure you can go in them as of yet. They just recently opened them back up a few years ago after many decades of them being sealed off and got the first section of the cave cleaned up but the rest of it past that wasn't structurally sound enough for the general public as of a couple years ago. I know they wanted to give tours of it but I'm sure covid slowed any plans down.

Most Pittsburghers say Primantis is "okay" because they been there like a 100 times. It is probably one the best "signature" food that is synonymous with a city, and I tried them all as I travelled a lot. Skip the steak and get any other sandwich and stick to the original in the strip and most out of towners rave about it.

Born & bred Pittsburgher and trust me, I've had Primanti's sandwiches since the 90's and there's only a few worth mentioning. Their best seller is absolute horrid. Processed, frozen beef patty is all it is. Get the Angus sandwich instead. Their colossal fish is one of my favorites. If you do decide to go back there, you do know that you can have your sandwich the way you want so NEVER order a sandwich with it's signature topping on it. I never worked here or never was affiliated with them but just a satisfied customer. Again, get ANY of their sandwiches made to YOUR liking.❤️🍽️❤️

Just visit the neighborhood of Polish Hill-you’ll find proper, hand-made pirogies. “Mrs. T’s” mass-produced pirogies just look sorta like pirogies, but don’t take like them. And never, ever, deep-fry pirogies: I’m from a Slovak, Polish, and Ukrainian family: only lightly pan-fired with butter or boiled pirogies are good.
