The thing that stood out to me the most is that he knows he isn’t better or worse than anyone. The thing is life that we do is we put people on pedestals and assume people are better or worse. The only difference between us all, is those who have tapped into their true potential and those who don’t know they have it. Loved it so much, one of my favourite episodes to date!

Question near end- what would make you happy, he doesn’t know, could be resolving all the stuff that he doesn’t want to go back to. He’s right that he can’t change the past but he can change his relationship to it and make peace with it. Great interview

This is a really good interview. The bottom line is never let anyone downgrade or belittle your background, no matter who you are or where you are from. We are who we are, we are all unique irrespective of skin colour and we can all achieve anything we want, but never ever forget or disrespect your roots. These guys are the epitome of this point. Brill Interview!

Tony is a top man. A great example to not only his children on how to be a genuine and sincere human being but to anyone. Plus a man with real honour to keep his word to Eddie and turn down £1.6 million was very impressive. I don't know if there is anyone else who would have done that. Big respect

Have to say, One of the best podcast/interviews I’ve watched. Tony, absolute inspiration. You said so many things thought out that really resonated, but the stand out for me was the quote: “people only see the destination not the journey” never a truer word said… Thank you.

Yes. This is interesting. I was watching a KZbinr called Liam Brown who walked from John O’Groats to Land’s End. This journey was to take about 2 months walking. I was just thinking about how toilsome the journey would be until we see how much fun he was having along the way. I realised then that whatever goal you set yourself, don’t think about the end, just enjoy the journey.

@@simonrodgers3278 One year late on watching this episode. But i'm curious to how you can think someone as a tool, when they've come from hardships all the way to achieving WBC cruiserweight World Champion, European Cruiserweight champion, WBO International cruiserweight champion, British Light-Heavyweight champion, a married father of 4 champion, writing a book, owning properties and more. Calling someone a tool purely based on your personal feelings, rather than basing it off a person's achievements, kinda points to you actually being the tool.

I'm similar age to Tony and grew up in a similar area (just the Manchester equivalent) and so much of what he says in this interview I can relate to, this idea of just wanting nice things, when you come from nothing, you believe that have nice things will make you happy, and it genuinely doesn't, but you have to get there to realise that. When my career in banking took off in the 00s, all I wanted to do was impress my parents, maybe our generation had that ingrained in us because our dads were part of a generation from the 60s and 70s that didn't articulate their feelings, and that's why that was so important to us to try and get that recognition. Great interview, Tony is a legend, one of the great sportsman and it's great seeing him in a good place.

Tony Bellew laid bare right there. Always used to think he was a bit nuts but seeing and hearing the honesty, open conversation and the integrity of the man and his relationship with Eddie Hearn. Massive respect to Tony Bellew. Have to agree with the book too. The Chimp Paradox is a fabulous book and having followed Tony’s career there will be so many moments he will relate to that book. Also seen him on SAS who dares wins when Ant Middleton almost pushed him past the point of no return with his temper and became a fan of Tony Bellew. Great interview!

Now I never comment on any of the videos I watch on YT, but this is an exception. Unbelievable video. Tony Bellew is a top top guy. Honest and relatable, and Steve's way of interrogating his guests is impeccable. I for one always strive for more and want the next best, I feel the need to provide for my family in my 8-5 job. Steve & Bellew have made me realise that although that's a good trait to have, That I still need to enjoy the now, because that final destination will never come I will always want more. What's 100% true is that I will never enjoy my current moments again, so I need to make the most of them while moving forward. Unbelievable show guys. Congrats and Thank you!

Brilliant episode! DOC is so well put together it is my go-to for evening entertainment. I saw a glimpse of this character watching the SAS show. I can relate to most of what Tony mentions about the impact of early life on adult behaviour, and the struggle of not letting the 'old you' come out in high-pressure situations in a mature setting such as a boardroom. Seeing Tony Bellew's character now, as a committed, humble family man, I have gained a lot of respect for him. Truly a good man!

My recipe for happiness has been a combination of therapy and life coaching. Doing everything I can to understand why I behave or react certain ways and a lot of inner child healing. Life is so different now. It’s not easy, it’s messy and painful, it doesn’t ever really end, and life is so much better for it 💖
