I wish this information was around 20 years ago when I was in my prime , it would of set me up physically and mentally with my health to respect my body and nourish it better instead of years of unhealthy eating but one thing I will say it’s never to late to start , with more education available and putting into practice I feel more healthier more energised and more clarity in my mind than I did in my 20s and 30s .

Nothing is better than your own experience. An exclusionary diet with occasional variation is most revealing. I have tried everything from total vegan to exclusively carnivore. Try things for yourself. Every single plant contains fiber. Every single plant also contains toxins to prevent animals from eating (killing) it. Some are less troublesome for you than others. I suggest you proceed based on your own actual experience, not based on what someone else suggests is good for you, because you are unique and nobody can know what works best for you without testing it.

After the carb coma, we were desperately seeking fibre again (but it was Soo hard to come back!) we were all insulin resistant after 3 years of pandemic! There is ZERO requirement in the human diet for fibre. Soluble fibre breaks down into short chain fatty acids - mainly butyric acid. Butyric acid converts into butyrate - a ketone body that your body can get directly from eating animal fat.

I have an autoimmune disease (Behcet's). A century ago, without modern medicine, I would have been dead before I was diagnosed -- if Dr Behcet had defined the disease back then, since it was only identified less than a sentence ago. Because it's a disease more common in Central Asia, I have to fight like hell every time I change doctors. I have been told, literally, that I couldn't have it because "it's rare, you can't have it." Like ADD or ASD, these diseases are being diagnosed more often not necessarily because their true prevalence is well in advance of medical education deficits and White Coat Syndrome. Any syndrome without a specific lab diagnostic (e.g. A1C) is almost guaranteed to be a underdiagnosed. If it depends on interviewing by the doctor, it is vulnerable to bias or ignorance of the medical professional. How do we exclude this from an increase in autoimmune syndromes?

By the time I eat again I'm not super hungry but I am hungry. I grew up on my grandma food who was cooking plant based Mediterranean, because she didn‘t like meat. As long as I remember and much to dismay of my family, I wouldn’t eat any “fancy” traditional meat dish with heavy gravy and potatoes. My mom , who just turned 81, was a real carnivore until 6-7 years ago and now eats plant based..

at old age is better to eat more plants based diet(whole foods not processed) and less meat and only lean fish or poultry, cause the plants are easy to digest than the meat and the digest system on that age is slow or cumbersome depends from person to person of course if u want to live long enough and with no problems

It's all so interesting and I have to take care not to be consumed (pardon the pun) by it all - I still have to live a life. But, I really think alcohol plays a big part in gut health, as well as mental health. Alcohol really does stop the absorption of vitamins and minerals, especially B12, magnesium, zinc - really important things people don't think about until they're losing their hair, balance, and with B12, their minds. I've been off the booze since March 2023 and have definitely noticed a difference.

I think Dr. Bulsiewicz is correct, but I'm not 100% sure. Some people eat only meat, and no fiber, and they seem to thrive. It's all very confusing... I think almost all people agree to avoid processed food, and to drink a big glass of water first thing in the morning. (For me, my gut also seems to like homemade kefir from raw unpasteurized whole milk.)

How do we increase fiber intake and diversity if we have crohns or colitis? Can’t find any advice out there as fiber is one of the biggest triggers for symptoms. It would seem though that fiber intake could help reduce autoimmune inflammation. Wish there was info on this, my dr is clueless x

Don’t eat more fibre. This ‘doctor’ is completely wrong on the fibre question. You can get short chain fatty acids directly from eating animal fats and fish as humans are evolved to do. There is ZERO requirement for fibre in the human diet. You’d be much better off listening to Dr Chaffee for dietary advice than this man.

I agree with the other comment. I've been zero fiber for over 3 years after focusing on all the B.S. in this video. My digestion is flawless without it. Our microbiome only needs to support what we eat. It's our immune system's first line of defense to what travels through our digestion and it also helps to break things down. A healthy gut microbiome is the gut microbiome we have when we're healthy.

@@scarlethelenIf you have leaky gut, you need to add fermented foods to your diet and slowly add fiber, that will help heal leaky gut. Eating a carnivore diet is easy on your gut muscle, just like seating on a couch seems easier than doing exercise, so it seems that problems is gone. But as not doing exercise weakens your muscle, not getting enough fiber will decrease microbial diversity over time, which is not good. Also, soaking lentils for several hours (overnight is better) before cooking or sprouting lentils would reduce the problem you are facing and start with lower amount. Carnivore diet won’t help heal leaky gut, you need fiber to rebuild gut barrier. This doctor is intentionally known gastroenterologist and he has seen all kinds of patients and helped people having problems like yours. You may buy his book called Fiber Fueled. It has so much information including how to heal leaky gut, all backed by scientific studies.
