The art is just phenomenal; I would buy it for that alone! A game like this has a lot of ulility because of it's speed, relatively small size and fairly broad appeal. Thanks for the inside look - I'm putting this one in queue!

4 x 8 = 32 minutes. Yes 30 minutes is enough. But stil if you are slow and maximum number of players 45 min or 1h with learning.

I backed this on Kickstarter and part of that was the to get the first one also. I like both. Your right the second one is better, but still like to play the original. They got it out on time for a kickstarter project, a rarity. Love the art work and design. Good review Tom.

I'm actually thinking of getting an Eight minute empire game. So if you've never owned any of those games, do you suggest getting Legends from the get go?

That would've been a huge flop in my family - they really dig the simplicity and the smoothness of the OG 8ME. Adding elves and bandits and cursed cards... Well, that would be way too much for casual gamers.

It might be a technically better game than the original, but I feel it takes away a little bit of the whole point. If you want a technically good game, buy an even technically better game. If you want an eight-minute empire game, buy the original :D I have only tried the original, though, but that's my immediate and therefore final verdict.

Game looks fun, but it feel like a Tiny Epic game with watered down components. I think they could have at least used pawns instead of cubes.

The component quality is bad... You kill cubes and place cubes in other regions. The coins just look bad. The gaming board is not that awesome either. SImply a not buy due to quality
