Since 'Last Will' is one of our 'keeper' games, this is one expansion I knew I was going to get. I was not certain if the 'job' thing would add more strategy as a whole, or just be a delay in getting to the end game. Your review has given me a pretty good idea about what to expect, and I am looking forward to this expansion. I love the whole marriage thing they added, and the 'flipping' action spaces. Thank you for this timely review.

I haven't played with the expansion yet, but from my experience with the base game I think the jobs perform an important role in balancing the game. In all but one of my games, the winners never bought properties, so making everyone buy properties keeps one person from gaining a more dominant position from the other cards.

That's a problem i have with this game and i'm surprised that Tom and other reviewer haven't noticed this. I won't even teach new players without telling them that if you want to win, you shouldn't even bother with the properties. I think this part of the game hasn't been playtested well and probably you are right, that they are trying to mitigate this flaw with the professions. But it only adds one property per player, so this mechanism will only get a bit of attention and still a huge chunk of a game will be avoided by experienced players.
