I agree, one of the best party games around. My friends and I usually play with either 5 or 6 people, which means there's a good number of cards to choose from in a round but also you get to be the clue giver a decent amount of times if you have multiple decks.

We played this game and though I totally see the potential in it, I have to say it didn't quite work out as it should have, here's what I think why. Although it says on the box 3 players and up, playing in 3 is really not much fun. One card being yours, you only have to choose between two and if you know the players, their choice is often quite obvious. On the other hand, when you're the cluegiver, chances are that at least one of the other players will have nothing connected to your clue (e.g. no darkness related card), making it, again, all too easy to guess. And finally I would argue it's a game that's not language related: I reckon it all comes down to cultural references. Books you've read, films you've seen, quotes and proverbs, childhood stuff, TV programmes, lyrics etc... "In the darkness" for example only makes sense if you've read/seen the Lord of the rings - in English.We were 3 players from 2 different countries and guess who lost the game. Plus making up clues in a second language is really a pain, so much harder to be sophisticated than in your mother tongue. So my heart is bleeding because it seems a great game - only you really ought to have the right kind and number of people to play with.

When playing with just three, the two guessing players plays two cards each instead of just one
@Medsas15 жыл бұрын
another weakness i think is that because of the low number of cards, it's very advantageous to memorize all of them. in your second situation, if you know there are more cards with a ring-like element than cards with a dark-like element, then it makes more sense to give a clue around ring, rather than darkness. however if there's very few cards related to ring, then giving a ring clue is too obvious.

We have this game at our gaming group, but the reason why we haven't played it (or at least I haven't played it) is because the rules give a horrible example with a film nearly noone in my country would know... But your review sounds really positive. I will try the game as far as I can!

ITs 2023 and I am still looking at it. Great Game!!

This game is optimized for 5 or more players. Playing with 3 players is terrible and not worth the time. 4 players is okay but still not great. 5-8 players is imo the best. We also played with 4 expansion packs, so there's plenty of cards.

it is a good game, i have found out that engineers have more trouble figuring out terms than creative oriented careers. it a quick fast game for those who enjoy creativity

Oh, it has a board? I hadn't seen it on BGG. The game is quickly climbing, and i agree with the mentioned possible drawbacks

Whats to stop someone from saying "Spot light" which would completely give away what the card is?
@MrHypnofan13 жыл бұрын
@peterwilc The scoring system is setup so that if the entire table guesses correctly, the storyteller gets no points at all. Same thing happens if no one gets the clue correct.

This game is purely amazing. It's one of the games I play with new people immediately to show them how good games can be. The artwork is beautiful. That's the first reaction I hear. There is an expansion coming out in 2010. I've played it over thirty times and still enjoy it very much. There are variations to the game that you can play with like having a theme, so every clue has to go along with the theme. It's a way for people to come out of their shells faster around new people.

I'd think the point is to have fun being creative and trying differnt clues with different people, not just to crack it and formulate a preset way to win.

This reminds me so much of my FAVORITE game Wise or Otherwise. Similar idea but with "old sayings" somemof.which are real, some of which players make.up and try to pass off as real. Hilarious uproarious fun with that one.

To the people trying to prove that the game is 'broken'... you are missing the point. You don't play a game like Dixit to win. You play for the experience. If you want to play a game to win, you'll have more fun playing Power Grid.

Promoting random guesses is a bad strategy, because if no one guessesit you lose points. Where if half the people guess you are above average.

I played this with a good sized group and I'm NOT impressed. Only the clue giver role had many options and you didn't get to be that more than once or twice in a big group. So most of your score comes from the other role where you pick one of a small hand of cards that might have a chance of confusing the others. Cards were neat, game was lame...

but other ppl are gonna get 1 point cuz they got picked I think...?
