A rare disagreement: I believe it is a good idea NOT to have been specific regarding the shows or stars. A person buying this game five years from now might not know today's stars. If the designer wants the game to have longevity, he will want the purchaser to supply his own "Late Night Talk Show Host" reference. Or the morning show host... how often do they change? Alternatively, I may want to identify the stars with the TV personalities from when I grew up rather than today's stars. Making the game non-specific was a good call, IMO. Otherwise, good review as always!

It also makes the game harder to translate if you want to make editions in different languages. Because the translator would have to figure out which star is the Japanese Chevy Chase or the Dutch David Letterman.

What did you think about the rulebook? We played it after the UKGE and enjoyed the core game but found the rulebook to be contradictory and confusing at times - put me off buying it

i think the original name of it was Fabrik der Träume but im sure the new version was called dream factory i dont know if u can find either of them tho cause i bellieve they're out of print

Tom I really think you need to separate "Excellent" and "Into My collection" cause it can get confusing. I mean I'm quite positive that you thought this was a really good game but maybe you can't keep it.

They've always been separate. He gave this game a 7/10. That's Approved, not Excellent.

He didn't give it excellent because he didn't rate it excellent, he rated it 7/10 which is 'approved'. Excellent is 8 and up. 'Excellent' and 'Into my collection' are regularly handed out independently. There is no need to lower the rating because he doesn't want to keep it. Check the review for America, Excellent, but not 'into my collection'.

This one really fell flat for me personally. Thematically I wanted to like it, but I felt like it really missed an opportunity to make matching the stars and shows matter more. I wished more of the stars had flip conditions like the ads, and even with the ads I thought most of the flip conditions were fairly weak/generic, the notable exception I remember being promo. Why does no one mind if I put a reality star on a highbrow drama, and why don't I get a bonus for putting the loud opinionated guy on the show where talking heads shout opinions at each other? Then mechanically it was just really generic. The majority of the game is just: take a card from the center, some give money, others trade money for points. The pink cards and the genre set collection added a bit of a twist, but not nearly enough when the core game was so bland.
