Really enjoyable and helpful review. Just some constructive feedback I don't think people are mic'd up enough around the table to play music with them, made it hard to make out what they were saying. Other than that really good review 🙂

Great review. I picked it up as a solo game and I dont play it a ton but it is fun. I need to try it with friends and make sure I don't quarterback since I have played it solo.

I was a little surprised that the cloth mat available in the Swords of the Coin Kickstarter was only for the creature cards. A (not-cloth) mat that includes all the stuff in the box would work much better when playing with others. Since that wasn't on offer, I'm going to wait for the new Kickstarter to arrive so I can print out the PNPs and then laminate them into a two-sided board. Their (crappy) website has a black and white version as a demo, which isn't that far removed from the two-color original. Turn the numbers and symbols neon green and you're good to go!

So far, I have only played this solo, so the size of the cards and text hasn't been an issue, and I liked the use of the box so that there's no wasted space. On that note, no the box isn't supposed to be bent. Also, I am more of an adventurer than an engineer, so the tight puzzeliness of the game can actually be a bit of a downside for me. I don't necessarily like having to play a game a dozen times to finally "get it" and "solve" the game. I just want to have a fun and interesting experience each time. There is enough fun here to make it work, though, so I will definitely keep playing. Everything else, I agree with. Good review. 👍

Thank you for a great review. The small box is interesting to me, but I share your concern that the box is a game component. Am I correct in assuming the board is an outside sleeve but there is still a box in the middle? It would be nice if there was somewhere to put all the components you don't use in a particular game session. Thanks to your game group as well for adding their feedback. I was not using headphones with my tablet so I did not notice a huge problem with the audio, but I will defer to those that had comments about it. It was nice to get a post-game impression from multiple different people, and bonuses for those points being concise.

Thanks, Blake! A bit hard to hear around the table with the music going. I also found the bokeh during the wrapup section to be a bit much, made me feel like I had too much to drink... but really just nitpicks. Thanks for the excellent review!

It's a really tough game, my game group ( experienced ) played normal and maximized everything as efficiently as possible, even ended up back tracking after revealed monsters to try and work out the best option. We got to the final round and had to face 12 monsters, plus a horse of around 6. We were about 3 cards away from even making it to the horde , that is with use and exhaustung all abilities. I would like at least a chance at winning, but I truly don't think it was possible... On Normal.

love the game and am now waiting for the swords of the coin addon. one recommendation: only play 4 players if you have already experienced players, otherwise the firekeepers ''sitting out'' turn can can drag on forever.

Totally agree with your review. I love this game and recommend it too...but I wish the components were more premium.

I really like this game, but I found that always having 4 characters broke the engagement. What I did was work out how many locations and monsters you need depending on how many characters you play with 1-6. This way every player always controls one character only. Every player can do one camp action and then all characters are in the fight. I found this better and more thematic.

Great review... I have one more negative point. There are only 3 pairs of d6 and only 3 pairs of d8! So you can't play with hero's all using 8 sided dice for example. Not until you bring your own dice.
