I really appreciate the change in the format where the conversation is much more coordinated. This prevented a lot of the dead air and cross talk which tends to happen in online conference calls.

Great video production! I like these "4 Squares" productions and I really like the way you are prompting each other for comments rather than letting individuals try to jump in and inevitably end up talking over each other! This gives a much more polished delivery of the discussion without feeling scripted. Hope you keep this format!

I don't know. Prompting the next person always clockwise seemed a bit artificial / unnatural. But maybe it's just me.
@raggededge684 жыл бұрын
@@EydenJones I do agree that a set rotation isn't the best. It would be easy to mix it up a bit so it isn't always going clockwise.

Echoing others, I really like this format. The verbal "handoffs" are a smidgeon awkward, but preferable to dead air and overtalk.

Santorini is one of my favorite 2-player games. This one.... I'm just not feeling it. I probably wouldn't mind getting it as a gift, and would possibly enjoy playing it a few times, but I think that the original Santorini has that special something which is kinda lost here.

In my country, it is very hard to come across good board games. There are no specific board game shops near me. But you can find monopoly, uno and other basic games at department stores. I found Santorini newyork at one the other day. I brought it and have played it a couple times with my dad. I have never played the original, so I can't compare. But I really atually enjoy this game, unlike people's general opinions. I am now considering buying the original.

Thanks, you guys! This COVID 4-square review is something that could outlast the need for social distancing. It was interesting that you all liked it best with the low player count. For me - the best thing about the game is the puzzle created each time cards are revealed... How can we stop the highest card from winning? This puzzle gets MORE interesting with higher player counts. I understand and agree about the increase in randomness with more players. The problem about players being isolated on different parts of the board is attempted to be solved by the transport cards which force players into making long jumps. It often works well. I'd be interested in finding out what player count other people enjoy the game best. I'll personally vote for the chaotic, but fun puzzle experience of a higher player count. Warmest thanks for the great review.

So happy to see this format! I've really missed Miami Dice. I love the discussions about the game instead of just a single opinion. It's a great change of pace. Can't wait to see more!

I love the 4 squares reviews. I love how you move the spotlight along between the 4 of view so smoothly. Great job!

Very good review, I completely agree with Zee's opinion! This New York looks great esthetically but there's too much randomness and it doesn't fully solve the kingmaking issue, while losing many aspects that makes the original Santorini mind-blowingly good. I will stick with the original one, and simply avoid playing it when we have only 3 players.

From Roy's expression, I think he's keen to check out the original from the DT Library as soon as Lockdown ends. It was good though to include someone who wasn't familiar with the original Santorini however..

I really love this format. I wanted to see all the 4 Quares reviews The Dice Tower has put out, but couldnt find a playlist. I'm gping through the uploads hunting them down, but they really should have a playlist.

What if the iron worker card is used and he can't build from two places? Meaning he can only build in one place after moving because the other squares are blocked or has a player in them etc.

Strikes me by the discussion that winning via the engineer is most common victory condition in a multiplayer game. Is this a correct perception?

The issue of 'shove responsibility to the next player' hasn't occurred in any games I play against a variety of player types and counts. If someone is about to win, the next player WILL try to stop them. Passing responsibility is an active way of ruining a gaming experience, something which I'm fortunate enough not to have encountered...yet. I've only played the original Santorini but I think it plays very well at all counts. Sounds like a PLAYER issue.

wow, I'm impressed just how bad this game looks when compared to the original - from the explanation of the rules it feels like a random mess.

For my group, slowing down the 'teach" is everything, so I'll take original - Granted this can still go fast very fast... I'm already in the practice of locking certain games to their specific playcounts. The hand management is weird in that it feels neccesary in places (Why 3P is so awful in original Santorini with the inevitable "completely unblock win condition and force guy next in turn to do it while I free build for myself) but in other places the hand management backfires (oh I just don't get a chance to win for X many more rounds) - Kind of reminds me of playing Original Santorini with Hera and almost always forcing the opponet to go for the trap workers wincon because of how much of the board she rendered unusable.

Good review, however I wonder if this one really required the "4 Squares" treatment. There's plenty of reviews I wish we could hear from all four of you on, but a rehash of Santorini doesn't seem like a good use of the four powers in my opinion.
@tonkabeanicecream56984 жыл бұрын
It also depends on if all four have played the game which they may not of for some other reviews.

I disagree with Tom, Santorini is SO GOOD at 3 players, the ammount of combinations and chaos that the different gods can produce at 3p is outstanding.
@bp97624 жыл бұрын
I love the original Santorini, but I think I will pass on this one. Same with King of Tokyo and King of New York. I have both but only really play Tokyo. Sometimes, when you make a great game, you just have to let it be. Stop tweaking something that works fine and make something else instead.

It`s uglier than the original, and the only advantage it has over that version is that it`s better for more players. No thanks.
