I’ll Always remember my father - who is the world’s biggest cynic and rarely respects anyone - speaking with so much affection for this man and his life. I seen the first superman film at the age of 6 with him, and still remember the look of excitement on his face when superman first flew. Thanks for everything, Chris.

Christopher Reeve was my first celebrity crush. I was so young, at the time of Superman, that I did not know what "it" was to crush on a man. He was so handsome then and now in this interview. His emotional intelligence really comes through in this interview. I wish he was still with us.

Christopher Reeve will always be Superman, just like Sean Connery will always be James Bond, Mark Hamill will always be Luke Skywalker, Robert Downey Jr will always be Iron Man, William Shatner as Capain Kirk, Roddy McDowall - Planet of the Apes etc.... It's positive. It means that you made a huge Impression on the audience. You were loved.

What a truly charming interview, or really, conversation. Cavett always seemed to have the gift of being people out of themselves. In this case, he brought Chris Reeve out to us, the viewer. His personality was so riveting and real. Very impressed. The tragic irony of life. We, just don't know what will become of us! In any event, another winner for Cavett. RIP Chris..

Dick Cavett kept interrupting Reeve's just as he was about to make an interesting point, once when describing about a close up shot and once again when talking about Brando. Normally I like Cavett as an interviewer but in this interview he was off key.

I've watched several of Cavett's interviews where he continuously interrupts. It's as if he's perpetually struck with whims to say something funny but can't suppress them long enough for the other person to complete a sentence.

What a great tip from a great gentlemen! In a nutshell, he said that acting is acting like you're not acting, meaning if you when play a part where you have to act surprised, if you think about it and try to act surprised, you're in trouble and the audience will notice that.

Boy, they way he confronted Brando. I must say that after all I've heard about the guy, he seems like such a jerk but I really like that Brando showed some respect after Reeve confronted him. I really wish both of these actors were alive today. Mostly Reeves which is probably a given. Life can be so cruel to people who don't deserve it, while simultaneously being way to generous to people that deserve to be behind bars. Any notion of karma is soon dashed.

After filming The Graduate, Dustin Hoffman was on Unemployment Insurance, then he took whatever he could to get off of it. By that time, The Graduate had been released. so he could be more choosy... then he did Midnight Cowboy... which his manager tried to talk him out of... then he was cemented as a legit actor.

Remember the days of actual 'talk' shows? With smart, well informed interviewers like Cavett and Parkinson. Ain't that the truth....

So sad we had to loose him so soon and his wife shortly after. LIfe. We never know when and how. At least we got to "meet" CR playing Superman like no one has before and since. I doubt there will be another as good or better. So far in the decades that have past there has not. CR was destined for this role. He was "built" to play Superman....his look has been unmatched for the role. And he brought dimenins to the role. Being an Ive League grad I think that helped greatly in making him believeable also as Clark Kent. Sadly becasue he made his mark as Superman he could play no other role after. He was too good as Superman. Oddly he never got any good breaks in film afterwards.

Christopher’s dear friend Robin Williams said that even after winning an Oscar random strangers still said, “Hey, Mork! Nanoo! Nanoo!” Art Carney, too. But then that happens easily to actors who made it big in television. Christopher Reeve played a movie character. If no one had come along to continue the Bond legacy, Sean Connery would have been stuck in that rut. Hollywood just wasn’t making superhero movies back then, so there was no chance that a succession of actors would have relieved Christopher of that mantle. Even if they were all duds, it would have been better to be seen as “the best Superman” rather than just Superman.
