Track limits are my issue. Not knowing which line on a track defines the limit, even on which corners. I seems that you can cut dramatically on some, but the same on others incurs a penalty. What am I missing?

Just follow the first tip, watch the demo from top 1, and don't go wider than they go. Simple as that.

Honestly, the number 1 guy wasn’t using set markers for braking and accelerating and it’s pretty obvious. Typically, when you’re in the lead you aren’t nearly as aggressive as this guy is being. It’s very obvious to me that he is chasing a ghost and trying to be more aggressive in the turns than the ghost he is chasing. I don’t learn the tracks or braking points from analyzing a replay. I learn what I can get away with by chasing someone faster than me. On Time Trials your typical braking point are tossed out the window. It’s all about how well you can control the chaos. We are just trying to get 1 good lap in, not trying to be clean, worrying about tire wear, fuel, or winning a race. I can see at least 3 turns he was to aggressive on and had he not clipped the grass, could have had a slightly better time.
