I absolutely LOVE the WW1 art by Jacques Tardi! I treasure his classic WW1 graphic novels, and I am overjoyed that he illustrated this WW1 themed game!

Indeed! Great art!

Totally agree! The rules are not presented in the best way, especially how all the different kinds of movements work took me a bit to wrap my head around, but once you get going it plays really smooth. Also BGG has some great resources on clearing up some of the rules difficulties.

Comparisons to 'Fields of Despair'? . Another GMT game in the WW1 setting.

Very different games. Other than the WWI theme they are not really comparable at all.

Hi Cody. Would you consider making a Top 5/Top 10 solitaire WWII games? 😊

Where was I when this first came out? I really hope they reprint this game. Maybe clean up the rulebook a bit. I’ve always wanted to get into WWI games but I’ve either been overwhelmed by how complex they are, or turned off by how uninteresting the art and components look. Steal Inferno seems pretty straightforward as far as the rules go. I already have so many games that go 3+ hours, so the relatively shorter time is good. The art sets a heavy but approachable tone, and the blocks, while abstract, look good. This game seems to capture the feel of trench warfare while not overwhelming you with a minutia of rules. I’ll be keeping my eye out for it.

Looks like a very interesting war game. Thank you for the review. How many Frenchmen does it take to screw in a lightbulb? One, because he holds the bulb and all of Europe revolves around him. 😀

Okay, okay. Let's not all pick on the French, now.

😂I heard that one before also, mate. Classic! But you forgot to preface it with the extremely necessary youtube qualifier of something like "Now...Of course the reputation the French had with surrendering and similar wasn't necessarily held by all people nor in all situations throughout all of history so remember to put it into the context where they did have such a reputation by some people so that people will understand you aren't talking about particular situations where they were viewed differently as the joke wouldn't make sense if you were referring to those times when the jokes wouldn't apply...Having said that, I will begin the joke now...' 🤣 Personally...I make sure to add those qualifiers to all my content. 😂

The French Army in WW1 was good, their Generals not so much, but neither were the British. Don’t compare them to their WW2 Army.

Unfortunately, your leadership is an important part of your army. I have no doubt about the quality of their front line soldiers. God bless them.

Card Driven Game. It's a game where you have cards that allow you to either play the card for an event, or play them for action points on the card.
