I was happy to see that Bulk had a showing in Samurai, but miffed that they didn't bring back Skull (they used a new character, Skull's son, which made Bulk his "uncle"). Though they did sort of redeem themselves when Skull made a brief appearance towards the end of Samurai.

Yeah, I was totally thinking that as mentor characters started showing up in the list- of COURSE they're going to be noteworthy supporting characters if done well. Magna Defender feels a little out of place in this list too- feels like he should be in a non-ranger combatants/sixth ranger list as well. Thing is, I agree with all of these being great and important characters (Doctor K is my fave, I love her a lot) it's just that some of them feel a little out of place being classed as supporting characters.

I love Rinshi. Their rhythmic movement is great to watch. The only season where I wasn't bored with the foot soldier battles. And the episode where they fight while dancing is hilarious.

Mentors could probably have been their own list instead of lumped in here. Since you only actually used 2 on this list you could still do a mentor list someday if you so chose. There's be crossover with the extra ranger list too I suppose with ones like RJ and Kruger. lol, nice Megaforce clip.

I never thought of that. Billy (David Yost) was my favorite character and Ranger early in the series (Mighty Morphin seasons 1-3A.) Alien Rangers, (season 3-B) and Zeo he DID help Zordon and Alpha 5 with the equipment and zords for the rest of the team.

I'm glad you put Mr. Collins so high. He was imo one of the best characters/actors of Time Force and the PR franchise at whole. His character arc was as good as Wes and Eric's if not better. The man portraying him sold the line of "What's the meaning of this, you're a Time Force Ranger," perfectly. When people talk about the 9th season, they never talk about him unless they're talking about his parts in the plot. I think he deserves so much more recognition so kudos to you for doing it here. Kelson Henderson plays a great character in S.P.D. called Boom. I loved this character, because when Emperor Grumm (along with A-Squad) captures the B-Squad, he tells the others at the S.P.D. base that he will stay and fight. Even though it may cost him, and Kat their lives they were willing to help Commander Cruger and the B-Squad Rangers help stop Grumm. I'm glad you included him in this top 10. :)

Dr. K is quite possibly the best piece of writing in the entire franchise. They were going for this really dark series and had the most ridiculous set of Zords to work with. They clearly thought out who would make such zords and why. Then, in a great example of show don't tell, they never explicitly mention the reason. We see her fuzzy slippers. We see a canon in the refrigerator. Then we we see the horror of her upbringing. It's arguable that it's even worse than Magna Defender's son. He, at least got a quick death and knew his father loved him. Dr. K can't even remember her parents, who may have spent years searching for her. In all likelihood , they were killed by Venjix's forces along with most of humanity. As a scientist, she knows the numbers a realizes her actions almost certainly killed her own parents. Maybe that's why it took an orphan and man without a past to join the team before she could reveal herself. The other three have at least one living parent who made it to safety. If they did succeed in their mission, they could return to those families and Dr. K would be left alone for the third time.

Great list and I'm glad you included Spencer in the Honorable Mentions. The only others I would have aded if only in the HMs would be Mr. Hartform Leelee, and Toby. The last two helped the Mystic Force Rangers quite a bit even if they didn't realize they were doing so at the time.

Because of this channel and the reviews of the power rangers seasons, i actually started watching it for the first time. I started with dino thunder and im 5 episodes in but each time i start an episode there is a thought in the back of my head " im 25 am i even allowed to enjoy this now" having a hard time because with your videos it has given me an appreciation for a show i didn't watch growing up and i do want to see more of it. just worried about having people criticize me for watching and liking a " kids" show.

Did you know that the RPM zords were living beings called engine in go-ongers(the sentai series adapted into RPM) so that's why the zords have eyes and RPM did a great job in creating a logical reason for said "eyes", also the rpm zord that appears in super megaforce is the son of the sentai counterpart to the red and yellow zords

For me - the mentors should have their own list separate to supporting characters and I mean actual mentors like doctor K, zordon and Doggie cruger not other members of the non ranger teams like kat Manx and alpha. Great list. I dont know some of these characters but i do intend to watch some of these seasons at some point. I liked that you put Magna Defender second although i dont think its accurate to call him a supporting character. You said that that he was doing what he was doing for revenge. No spells or mind control were involved. At that moment my mind went straight to Korragg. He is my second favorite character but his ideology is something i hold high even to this day. He was evil but he wasnt willing to throw away his honor for a quick victory. In my opinion they should have left him an antagonist instead of revealing he was a good guy being controlled. Anyways. Good list.

It would be great if they all have more than one spot in the power rangers franchise, the Hyperforce tabletop episodes season 2 or even the BOOM! comics so we can see how much more backstories we can get except for Gosei, that is. Like why did Fran's parents leave her and her diving in books as companions. More importantly, who is Fran's parents? But we will see later on down the line.

Looking at this and some of the other videos and seeing what kind of characters Power Rangers has already done well, I've thought of two character types that PowerRangers needs: rivals and skeptics. A lot of the time when there's a team that's a mix of veterans and new Rangers (such as SPD, Time Force, and RMP) you get two characters who butt heads for a while, but what I haven't seen is two characters with a good strong rivalry. Having a good rivalry on the team would give a lot of room for character development, with each rival challenging the other to take a look at themselves and see who they are. The other character type is the skeptic, the person who sees a bunch of people running around in brightly colored spand- I mean self-assembling nano weave, crashing into buildings with their giant robot, and thinks "these guys are as dangerous to the city as what they're fighting". He doesn't need to be absolutely right, and would likely act biased at the start of the series, but such a character would be a good source of tough questions the Rangers need to answer about themselves, while at the same time he eventually begins to question his own convictions about the Rangers. The other great thing about both of these character types is that they provide a lot of room for hilarious moments in between the deep self-reflection. For proof, see Fairy Tail for rivals and any Spider Man media that features J. Jonah Jameson for skeptics.

That's why I love RPM so much. The writers were allowed to write complex characters that could actually challenge each other and the random stuff that has to be brought over from a show's Sentai origins. It was great watching Ziggy complain about the random background explosions and Flynn actually using the explosion as a weapon. It was equally great that they allowed a character like Dillon to exist. He was more anti-hero than hero, and they never forced him to "toe the company line" like so many ranger teams do immediately.

It's OK, after 20+ years every city knows to build an abandoned warehouse district for potential Zord fights. Ever wonder if the people of Angel Grove are especially pissed? They had to put up with giant monsters for 5 years. All these other cities only have to deal with it for one. Also, is the Lost Galaxy year special to the people on Earth.

Tbh, I’m fairly certain Dr K invented the power rangers as well. I mean she doesn’t mention a morphin grid but a natural bio electric field, so I’m certain that morphin grid was the term that came about for any technology that tapped into that field. Venjex also killed everyone on Earth with some fairly advanced technology. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few humans escaped to space or left afterwards as Earth was putting itself back together creating the human like aliens that show up in later series. Some groups would show up hating technology afterwards as well preventing Earth from staying advanced. I mean, the power coins could have very easily been based on the paleozord from rpm

Actually that bit for Gosei is so true. He's not that good of a mentor like Dr. O, Dr. K, RJ, Zordon, Kendall Morgan or even a one-time mentors like Lt. Stone and Adam. If you watched the both Megaforce/Super Megaforce entirely you'll see why. According to Bulk & Skull in MMPR season 3- Turbo, Lt. Stone/Det. Stone is a pretty good mentor in his own ways of teaching them different skills in different situations. He come off as a newcomer to Angel Grove but is unaware/stubborn hard as nails police Lt., but he changed when he became a detective and thus became a mentor to Bulk & Skull. Note the ways he's been teaching the 2 in half the season of Zeo. Adam is also a supporting character to Skull in one Zeo episode and is a one-time mentor to Carlos in Power Rangers in Space. Don't these 2 deserve to be on the list and not just honorable mentions? I just got one question regarding Commander Stanton. What exactly did he do to become a supporting character in Lost Galaxy thus, have no knowledge about assisting the rangers in battle and or do anything beyond what he knows about the Galaxy book info. from the rangers if he evesdropped/hears the rangers talk ranger conversations when he's been around the area where they're most likely to be at and contribute more as commander?

I would even make the argument that some of these supporting characters could have and should have been additional Power Rangers. Kat Manx could have been a more prominent extra Power Ranger fighting alongside Doggie Cruger. Fran would have made for a wonderful additional to the Jungle Fury Power Rangers as either a Pink Ranger or a Vermillion Ranger because it would have been wonderful to have another vibrant young woman on the team. Cassidy Cornell and Devin Del Valle would have made for nice additions to the Dino Thunder Power Rangers as the Pink and Green Rangers.
