I just remembered seeing, on Amazon, these empty felt markers you add your own dye to. That would be perfect to add the RIT dyey to . So you can easily and happily draw to your hearts content on whatever whenever. Your little one could do her own clothes with easy to hold markers! Thanks for the ideas and video! You rock! 😊

Going to experiment with a watercolor T-shirt, then some plain pants to mimic some of the designs I’ve seen online. 😊 For those asking about laundering… RITDYE has a product called color stay fixative. You can spray this on dyed projects to set the dye. Instructions are on their website. I’ve used it on dyed and store bought items (grandma had a plaid shirt she loved that bled dye all over everything until I used the fixative). Can also heat set in dryer, microwave, or summer heat (lol). (Heat opens fibers to accept dye.) Wash in cold, delicate, separate from other items I’ve had great success so far with this method of setting dye.

So this jacket is something I usually dry clean, but you could absolutely wash it. Its dye, so just the same as you would wash tie dye or whateve.r and the paint pens are acrylic paint....never coming out haha

Very cool! The other you could have done with the last 2 flowers in the back is to just leave them as line drawings. You can also use Derwent Inktense paints like watercolour but they are dyes so they’re permanent when fully dry. Thanks for the inspo!❤

Really great use of dye - thanks for the tip about using like watercolors rather than painting directly with dye. Bleeding color is a problem I hadn't solved but this process looks like it is the solution. What do you think about using stencils for folks less artistically inclined who can't draw the flowers? do you think the same process would work?

I love this idea. If you dont want or know somone to draw the lines for you then make a diy projector. All you need is a box, sharpie, clear plastic like a ziplock bag, tape and a light sorce like your phone flashlight, oh and you may need scissors depending on your box. Find a image you like and trace it onto the plastic with the sharpie, then it your box is open on both sides then just tape the bag flat onto one openign if not cut a opening then tape it. After that you want to place your flashlight in the box to shine though the opening. You and then close the back of the box and in a dark room it will project the image onto your clothing. Then just trace it onto whatever you want. You can see the placement that way and you can also make the image smaller or bigger by moving the projector closer or farther away.
