Thanks for your tutorial videos. I honestly think you are the best teacher on KZbin when it comes to DIY. You are making me feel more comfortable to tackle jobs that I would have never bothered to attempt. I know this probably doesn't come up that often. Though, how would I approach wallpapering a room with wallpaper that has pvc trunks which contain electrical cables and copper pipes.

Used blinds direct for all my windows, I like that they take 10mm off your measurements to allow for small tolerances, I've installed mine at the front of the recess so it clears window latches and the top finishing trim sits flush with the wall.

Got ours from them too and fits great - thankfully 😄 Happy with quality too. I fitted all brackets to the steel lintel. Probably the hard way rather than fitting the end brackets on the sides 🤪

The measurements are for just the blinds or is it including the brackets?

Maybe you can do a video installing watersoftner and to make it intresting place water sofntner outside property or anywhere else but not under sink .

I tried screwing up and it was impossible to screw to the depth required. Seems like a steel beam sits across the top.

Did the pelmet clips come in the box? I've ordered a blind and it didn't come with them.

I would always fit my brackets into the wall (not lintel) on the ends as it's much easier!

How far out from the window would you recomment fitting the blinds? Cheers
@RAC3453 ай бұрын
That’s dependant on handles etc, it’s best to measure and leave a cm at least to ensure the blinds work properly
@pppscooby9 ай бұрын
Also, always be wary of how far the window handle sticks out so it doesn’t get in the way of the blind as you move it up and down.

If that's a made to measure blind, why did you need to cut the pelmet down to size? Was that bought separately? I've put up all the blinds in my houses, unfortunately the brand (at the time 15 yrs ago) only offered brackets that have to be drilled into the lintel for some of my window, which is a pain. I was hoping to see how you approach the drilling into the lintel. Fortunately, you had the multi option bracket. There's also a brand I've seen that now do No-drill blinds. Thanks.

@KE5ZZO9 ай бұрын
Steel lintel is only on outside holding up brick / stone not on interior
@TheDIYGuy19 ай бұрын
No, the steel lintel is inside also here in the uk. In this case it’s a concrete lintel,

Perhaps this could be the subject of a future video? Generally, how to fix into the underside of a steel lintel when there is no other option.
@thomaslundberg55889 ай бұрын
@@TheDIYGuy1 I was also wondering if you were drilling into the underside of the lintel for the centre bracket. Are there any issues drilling into a concrete lintel?

03:49. Wrong toss their screws and plugs use 2&1/2 in or 3 inch screws to go thru the drywall and hit wood. Side brackets do 2 screws on side and 2 screws on top
@TheDIYGuy19 ай бұрын
Nothing wrong about it just different methods. There’s no wood to screw into anyway so why would you be going through the drywall with wood screws unless working with a timber building
@michaelwilson38449 ай бұрын
Just something else to consider often kitchens and bathrooms have a few rows of tiles at the bottom of the recess so use this as your width when ordering , lots of people make the mistake of not taking this in to consideration and get a shock when they drop the blind and find that it catches on the top row of blinds allowing the blind not to drop to the bottom correctly 😢

Absolutely right 👍
