So what I don’t understand is why people would even mention they don’t like the stencil you chose for YOUR home. Like who cares if others like it or not! It’s not their home, it’s yours. People should follow the old golden rule we all learned as kids- do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Or if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Your floor looks great.

@@stanleyhape8427 I'd re-stencil the damaged areas and invest the time and money into a good quality cement sealer-then add many, many coats. Ensuring proper dry time in between. This will be inconvenient and a huge hassle but the years of joy that your art will bring is so very worth it!!

What a great video! You answered everything I would’ve asked. The tile on my bathroom floor are similar to the ones you painted, and apparently they weren’t sealed properly because they always look dirty no matter what I use to clean them. Christina, I love this project. I have been researching DIY projects for tile flooring. I like to have options on decor that can get you through the rough patches of remodeling until you have the budget to remove & replace tile. I love this idea and yes, I would just add more coats of sealer. Thank you for going through the steps so I can know how to approach things. This could be a great option for me, especially since I was considering replacing the tile with a patterned tile anyway. Great job 🌟🖤🤍

Audrey M Hi, it will work on all tile but not in the actual shower/tub. I usually tape off that area and just paint the non water areas. A shower curtain will hide the unpainted tiles.

Susan Pike. I want to paint my bathroom tiles. So, you recommend the other product and it will stay on the floor? I don't want to have to repeatedly paint it because it peels off or gets scraped off or anything. I just want to use the best product for the floors. I have a bill to grade blue tile in the condo that I purchased in my bathroom and I don't like it at all. I do want to paint it black and white. Similar to what she painted by her stove. I would love to hear your recommendations. Thank you so much

Loved you doing this DIY. And the update. Thanks for that. One can answer that so easily, of course, scratching will go through paint. Look at your doors and walls. Not one layer of paint is capable of keeping it safe but boat varnish and even that will wear and tear after a while. It's a temporary solution or a job for not a much-trafficed area. That's why they made ceramic tiles for those places XD

I painted the kitchen backsplash tiles. The breakfast counter tile job is holding up fine and it's been there for at least 2-3 years now. So we just finished the kitchen. I would stress using a really good primer, as that was the only thing I did different and the new stuff has some scratches and chips already. (We painted it before it even was on the wall, remodel on a budget). So I'll probably touch them on the wall and hope they hold out better now they're set.

I did this to both my bathrooms one to look like tile and one to look like wood (actually after seeing this video then searching others because I loved it so much) I did this almost two years ago, and they both held out GREAT. Look the exact same and I have 5 sons and 1 daughter so that says a lot. I have since put down peel and stick over my "wood" floor painting only because I wanted to try it out. That bathroom is used the most since it has the bathtub and shower. I cocked around the tiles specially near the bathtub and have also had great success. I prefer the peel and stick over the painting for one reason and one reason only..... it was fast and easier. Painting stencils is so time consuming.. but that said, they turn out great if you are patient and stand the test of time. I actually find my painted floor is easier to clean than the peel and stick floor. The painted was not really cheaper since not all poly is created equally and I bought Varathane for high traffic floor an. THis is a must... don't do all that work without a good protector. ALso when I bought my stencil I paid too much for it. There are decent prices now for stencils. STILL love my tiled painted floor. P.S. DIY Mommy, I have used stencils with joint compound to do decorative texture on walls! Looks so cool!!

Can you do this in high traffic areas? Yep! Used floor paint a few years ago in my kids bathroom and it's still holding up with 3 boys. I mop the bathroom twice a wk. Yes it does scratch slightly, but it's still better than the flooring that was in there before for a fraction of the cost. I should have redone the top coat after the first year but I haven't. I recently just did our kitchen floors and didnt even bother with the top coat because everyone is home and frankly I'm just too busy right now. Well see what happens.

It’s also seen extensive Reno equipment, house heavy furniture during renovations we’ve done to the rest of our home My base color is white and the stencil black , I have minimal scratching. What is there was as a result of my husband dropping, and subsequently spilling, paint thinner and mineral spirits.... so... I mean at that point to be expected 🤷🏻♀️ It’s been 2 and a half years for me exactly and I’m constantly complimented on the floors and few people realize they are painted and not purchased tile.
