Hi Craig love the RM videos. I restored mine a couple of years ago and keep it in the kitchen . Couple of close ups of silencer for your reference . All the best 👍

I knew exactly what you were going to do and what your going to do when you fill it. When I was a young man, the guy go at the welding shop up the street showed me that trick. I was amazed and still use it today.

To end up with the same length than the old muffler, maybe you should have cut the steel pipe a little shorter that the aluminum one since you now have a butt joint instead of going over the end caps.

From the one good picture l found the rivets to enable dismantling/repacking are only at one end.
@markleeming3767Күн бұрын
I had similar thoughts. Might be a bit longer but the length might not be critical

Shouldn’t the endcaps sit inside the silencer tube?

You are crazy , mate !😊 You should apply for work to some Chinese companies to teach them how to make proper silencers 😅👍

I wonder how many of you have just googled RM 80 silencer, to see what it should look like?

Pauls not looking hard enough, i just googled rm80 exhaust and quite a few pop up, some on ebay, some places making new pipes still, 40 to 80 quid decent secondhand ones, 170 plus for new ones.

A standard SILENCER for the 1981? I only found one used one, supposedly for "80/81" Yes a few aftermarket but not as prevalent as you seem to suggest. Anyway l think Craig quite fancied the job himself.
