Crack I’ve just got me a maxspeedingrods night heater split type not all in one like yours 8kw very good price on amazon I think I paid a smidge over £100 it’s cheaper to get a new one than repair

Good job on that heater. With stuff from a certain country' it can be that the quality of the part is rubbish and/or the assembly is poor, like little or no lubrication. Those small motors have either ballrace bearings or oilite bearings. You can get either very cheaply so I would not throw that old part away but would attempt to fix it as the next spare.

Fascinating. I also would try to do that sort of thing. I've got two dehumidifiers, different sizes, each of which have a fan. Both fans went noisy - probably supposed to chuck the whole thing and get a new one. The fans are basically computer fans, and not high quality ones either. One large, one small. Got replacements off eBay, job done!

Hey Craig, save yourself a load of cash. STOP using diesel and find someone who sells kerosene. 69p a litre or £1.37 for diesel. I've got 3 of the same heaters and totally agree with all the comments about cleaning it out once a year. You were only a couple of screws away from making it double its heat output by cleaning the combustion chamber.. Just make sure you wear rubber gloves.

If it fails again You can still repack it with Grease and put a gromit Made of some fetl tipe material that soakes in the Grease and prevent it from melting down or be washed away too soon, i saved some electric engines , Even submerged washer pumps with brushless motor packed in white rockol Grease.

I like fixing thing too because I am of that vintage BUT these days stuff is NOT designed with repairability in mind and hence you sometimes just can't take things apart without breaking them etc and to make matters worse even IF you could and find the faulty part 9 times out of 10 you can't just buy THAT part alone, you have to buy the whole assembly. Its all because we have evolved into a through away society especially in the Western world instead of repairing. Your heater is a good example, you can't get to the bearing to just change that and even if you could it is much cheaper to just buy the whole assembly for 18 quid.

That was very interesting! First wee diesel heater I have ever seen. I see Amazon (Canada) has them from 119 to 500 dollars Canadian . I may get one for my shed. What brand is the one you have Craig? If I could get 4 years out of it I would be thrilled. Stay warm and Well. Cheers!

Best to give these a service every year, clean the combustion chamber out check the glow plug etc. The gaskets seem to need replacing everytime you take them apart. Joshua De Lisle here on youtube has some interesting videos on diesel heaters and modifying them, well worth a check even just for a bit of an insight of how to take them apart.
@MayorofDipshittery-lq7ifКүн бұрын
Take the glow plug out and give it a good clean down and also the air intake because it’ll choke the life out of these little heaters if they’re left uncleaned.
@user-Merovingian1980Күн бұрын
clean the combustion chamber out mate and also the fuel air intake loads of videos on it make sure to remember the mesh in the fuel intake very important that's clean

Hi Craig. How cheap or expensive on electric would you say it is to run?
@cedley196914 сағат бұрын
I've got exactly the same model fitted in my van, they pull quite a heavy load on startup when the glow plug is on, after that they run at about ten amps at 12v so next to nothing.
@GrandadTinkererКүн бұрын
Hi Craig. I've had one of these heaters in my shed for a couple of years. I nearly gave up with mine, as the pumps kept failing after a few hours running. Now on my fourth pump, and touch wood, it seems to be ok. I think you did the right thing by not choosing the cheapest replacement part, as the first couple of pumps I bought were 'cheapies' and turned out to be duff. All the best with the shoulder, I'm waiting for my second replacement hip. This getting old bit is no fun!
