Tinfoil hat theory, Interpol is an international CIA and their vague and contradictory operating mandate outside of "We dont make arrests like police" is intentional. I just looked up as much as I could on them, but including Europols own website, when looking up information between the difference between Interpol and Europol, you get the impression Europol is what Interpol is described to be and Interpol is closer to the CIA or Mi6. My heads spinning because some sites give what Europol actually is as the description for what Interpol is and others make it seem like they are an International FBI but without arresting authority. Tinfoil hat says this is intentionally confusing because they are actually far more internationally entrenched and influential but simply lack law enforcement authority, like the CIA, and the intend confusion helps cover the reality of the organization. A straight forward description of this org seems impossible and every LEO org and country seems to have their own interpretation of what Interpol is other than not being an arresting police force.

@@silvrnightingale My understanding is that in the USA, if you prevent someone from leaving, they're arrested or detained, but if you actually take someone somewhere else, they're arrested. You don't have to immediately charge them with a crime, but you have to suspect them of a crime beyond just "we're investigating what happened here." I should watch this again, it was a fun heist movie, neat to see more unorthodox methods rather than the standard Ocean 11 stuff (not that I dislike these movies either, I just like the variety)

To me in this movie after watching it again and again I can honestly state I really do wonder if the Frenchy is a tester for the actual surviving circle (he makes his own since he couldn't attract after all) and he failed with his revenge thing and she was in the very European way of "oh so sad but" seen in European media.

"M"ob bosses, "M"urderers, and "T"hieves. In magic MMT stands for magical mystery tour. It refers to a mysterious and enchanting journey which often involves illusionism, sleight of hand, and other concepts used in the film. He's hinting to us what this is before we know he's the boss.

The only consensus surrounding Interpol I can find is that they are not an arresting police force. Every LEO organization and country seems to have a unique variation description of what Interpol is outside of the fact formerly just mentioned, which range from descriptions of what Europol is to what the UN Police are, all the way to conduct closer seen in organizations like the CIA, Mi6, CSIS or ASIS. Very suspicious how large the spectrum is and how vague specific information about them depending on the source is.

This whole premise grinds my gears. Somehow the four horseman were the only people who knew the bank was robbed before anybody else realized and also knew the vault layout well enough to create an exact replica. Yet somehow they're just released with 'they didn't admit it so we don't have any evidence' as reasonable. Also, doesn't matter if its 'magic', removing your cuffs and cuffing the officer mid interrogation after giving a fairly threatening monologue would land you a nice prison sentence on its own.

Yeah, the agencies don't have to believe in magic, they only have to believe that the money from that vault in France somehow turned up on the stage.

Yeah, you don't need evidence to make an arrest, but you do to charge someone, and unless you're the Romanian government, you can't just hold someone as long as you like without charging them.
