You should watch the movie "Taking Chance" starring Kevin Bacon. It is based on a true story. It shows the personal escort officer who accompanies the fallen soldier home. A soldier is assigned to transport a fallen soldier home and it shows the transport officer who never leaves the fallen officer until the job is done. It's very emotional and it shows the strength of character and the toll it takes on the transport officer. You won't be disappointed.

I love that desk!!! My family carried my husband's coffin and he was received by the body bearers. Two high ranking officers folded his flag then they handed it to my grandson who's in the air force and he knelt in front of me and gave the flag to me. So regal and sad 😢 I got a big hug from my grandson.

My father was a marine and a veteran of the Korean War . They carried my fathers coffin and folded the flag and presented it to my mother . They gave him a 21 gun salute and played the bugle .it was so touching . My father passed at 74 in his sleep . He was a marine from 17yrs old to 22yrs old . Went to war . Buried with military honors . So deserved . I love these men who do this .

So many aspects to the military in general are taken for granted. It's nice to see them given recognition and to allow people to see just how much effort is put into making sure it's a job well done. From graves registration to the mess crew, there is NO unimportant job and it's great to see them acknowledged. Dedication, duty and honor in all aspects. Well done Marines!

Renee, and to all those that do not know. Service members of the Marine Corps are Marines. Soldier is someone that serves or served in the Army, just as someone in the Navy is a sailor. Others may find it strange, but we Marines are somewhat offended that so few do not realize the difference.

I've got a LOT of Marines in my family, whether by blood (Father, oldest Brother, Uncle, and a couple of cousins) or, by marriage, (one BIL and one SIL). and I've been to a few funeral services at Arlington, my own father's included. I didn't realize at the time just how much training and bodily strength building went into their position. Thank you for showing this video, and thank you, Stephanie, wherever you are, for suggesting this subject. I've always supported our Military, and have a soft spot for the Marines, and this beautifully done video just adds to my respect and admiration for the Marines who take this post as their way to not only honor a fallen brother/sister but, also honor and respect the families of our fallen Marines. Thanks again, Don Father for this video!💖💖💖😘😘😘👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏

I just wanted to offer a personal thank you, for bringing attention to this topic and helping raise some money for the cause. Sadly, in the US we lose 22 veterans a day to suicide, due to PTSD and other mental issues. That doesn't even touch the topic of alcohol and self medication. The hardest part of recovery is learning to forgive ourselves... Thank you again!!!

Military (dot) com describes the Marine Corps Body Bearers as the most muscular unit in the Marine Corps. The actual solicitation for becoming a bearer mentions the word flawless at least 4 times, and the physical strength requirements (not to mention mental fortitude) are higher than special forces. "This billet is not for everyone. Marine Corps Body Bearers serve as a tangible, physical manifestation of the institution that our fallen brothers and sisters have poured their hearts and souls into fortifying, As such, the mental, emotional, and physical toll this responsibility exacts from the Body Bearers as well as Ceremonial Drill School students is immense. That being said, the honor and pride the Body Bearer Section takes in caring for Marines the way they do is one of the most gratifying experiences of their lives." The Cadre of Marine Body Bearers are a special breed. Semper Fi! God bless them.

Being a brother of a fallen Marine. The honor they presented my family putting my brother to rest showed the meaning of being a Untied a States Marine. As the Marines say. Your a Marine till the day you die! Then your a past Marine. And these Marines honoring them and families are priceless. No words can express the love and honor they do for the families of fallen Marines.

I must say this was a little hard to watch. My Father, a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars with U.S. Air Force I've grown up seeing way more of this than a child should have to. Bless these Marines, Soldiers, Navy and Airmen that's willing to put this type of duty on their shoulders for the respect these peoples deserves for giving the ultimate. And to all those out there that are still fighting the hidden battles, my resources are limited but still doing all I can.

When my cousin passed after giving birth on maternity leave our small town didn't have enough Marines to carry her. But, the community came thru. We had 4 Marines (one retired) and two soldiers carry her coffin. Three airmen gave the gun salute and a sailor played Taps. When that first shot went off those that had managed to hold their tears couldn't any more. Even my strong willed husband couldn't. She had served in Iraq.

I had the honor of seeing these guys in action. A local WWII Marine hero's remains were uncovered on Tarawa, and these guys and others from Washington D.C. came in for the funeral (the Marine was a Medal of Honor recipient, so his funeral was a big deal). I ended up standing behind the Marine holding the MoH flag at the head of the coffin. The gravesite was on a hillside. After lowering the coffin over the gravesite, the body bearers lifted the flag and held it taut above the coffin during the graveside service. Through no fault g the MArines, the service was extremely long (long enouggh for my face to get sunburned). Those body bearers didn't so much as twitch a muscle the entire time. It was as if they were made of granite. And they weren't the only ones; the rifle company and the band (when not playing or firing the salute) were also immobile. It was all very impressive.

This is not a negative critique but when he said they are trained to show NO emotion , no crying , tears , strain in voice ,..”for the families” I personally think that part should be left out, if the person that gives the flag to the wife or mother etc and tells them the words they do,..happen to get emotional , I feel like it would be appreciated, touching amd sincere for the families . Just my opinion. I come from a US Army family and LOVE our Military /servicemen and dread when my father passes (US Army Vet who lost his leg and comming to the end of his life,..hoping not too extremely soon)

Watch the body bearers from any branch of service and every country. No one does it like America's Marines. These guys are Hard Corps in everything they do, and you would not expect any less of them. The Marines are not lucky enough to always have available men with combat experience to be body bearers. The fact of the matter it's probably a good thing. If there is a dangerous place to go. If there is a hard job to do the United States Marines will request to be there.
