I had huge problems with lust. I lived a pretty fornicating life until I was saved. I actually never believed I'd be healed of my lust, but Jesus helped me, He can also help you. With prayer He will change your habbits and your stance towards sexual desire. For me it was gradual not immediate but I chaged my ways, no glory to me. I still have the bad thought here and there, but I don't indulge anymore or linger on them.

Everything Michael mentioned about taking practical steps to starve the cravings (not watching TV, not going to the mall, etc.) is a good start, but falls far short of "the key" to stop lusting. When you hear him talk about how he stayed clean as a young man, he only talked about how disciplined *he* was. It was all about how hard *he* tried. He was boasting about what *he* accomplished. Not a single mention of how *God* enabled him to be victorious through the power of Christ's resurrection and the empowering of the Holy Spirit. The message of "try harder" doesn't work because it is based on flesh dependence. See how that worked out for the apostle Paul in Romans 7:14-24. I'm glad Michael mentioned Romans 6-8, because Romans 8:1-4 and Romans 6:8-14 contain the true keys to defeating this powerful sin. It's the opposite of flesh-dependence. It's Spirit dependence. Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. This amounts to admitting that in our flesh, we don't have the power to beat sin. But Christ living through us does when we yield to Him. This is Spirit dependence. This is walking in the Spirit.

Taking practical steps is 100% necessary in conquering lust. You can pray all you want...but if you are still watching porn, praying won't help you. You are in control of your actions. This is why we are accountable for them. I disagree with your thoughts on Galatians. That scripture is in no way telling you that we don't have the power to beat sin. That is false. James 4:17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

You can't take one single edited segment of an entire sermon and accuse mine of boasting in his abilities. Listen and watch his other videos. He as many teachings from the Bible and talks about walking and depending on the spirit and not self. This video cut off before he actually got to the part of how to not lust. Plus he had a few books about how not to sin and its not about depending on self.

@@aaronautry1981 This all fine and well, but I did not have parents, and less so as I grew more independent and self willed. I went straight from boarding school to the army and then navy without so much as hint that this material that was everywhere and approved of was not good for one especially when it was the only thing that did feel good to me in my life didn't involve anyone but me. You get that? When I hear of his accomplishments and upbringing I feel all hope is lost because I was never afforded the foundation he was and therefore destined from before my birth to be a vessel for dishonor. That didn't seem right? It was when the Lord called me that I learnt that this was bad, real bad for me, now I try to stop, something that has been with me from as far back as I can remember. It's been a battle, a life long struggle, that I heard echoed not many comments up by an elderly man. This is a battle, and we who are at war know we need every weapon that we can get, and yes only through the power of the Holy Spirit can this be overcome.

John records two instances where Jesus told two people to stop sinning. If it weren't possible, Jesus wouldn't have commanded them to do it. He required something of them. To the lame man: "But afterward Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, “Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you.”" - John 5:14 It is clear that Jesus knew what had caused the man’s condition. We are not told the specifics of the man’s physical impairment, but the context implies that it was caused by sinful choices. Jesus warned the man that he had been given a second chance and that he should make better choices. If the man returned to his sinful behavior, he would have wasted the opportunity Jesus gave him to live whole and forgiven. And to the woman caught in the act of adultery: "No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.” - John 8:11 It goes without saying that the woman caught in adultery did not return to her infidelity. She had met Jesus. She would not be perfect. No one is. But she was forever changed. Her eyes had been opened to the depravity of what she was doing. Sin no longer held the appeal it once did. When we meet Jesus, sin no longer holds its fatal attraction. Grace changes things. “Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?” (Roman's 6:1-2).

I am a woman and I appreciate this insightful information. I wish there were more people interested in imparting truth. I was molested as a child but also brought up in a church where no disciplinary action was taken against leaders who were in error because all that mattered was keeping the numbers up. At home there was NO teaching but everyone just watched their own television without any warning to the dangers of such. I am fifty two years old now and since listening to you have realized the damage caused first BY church, family, predators and then me replaying corrupt ideas through media into my mind. Your advice not only helps me see young men's struggles differently but also sheds light on how we can apply this to other things in our lives. With gratitude , Mary Barnes in Emmanuel county

Sexual drives are normal, lusts are not. Lusts are spiritually fueled. Lk. 6:28 teaches us to: bless those that curse you and PRAY FOR THEM that despitefully use you. This is the biblical formula for the Believer to overcome lust, anger strife etc. Practically speaking when you find yourself lusting after a person...begin to pray for them. Sample prayer: Father please bless this person with salvation and a strong witness for the Lord Jesus Christ… I claim their family members and friends to be brought into the kingdom through this person‘s testimony and vibrant walk with you Lord. Please bless their health and work and keep them safe as they grow in wisdom and may you give this person a strong desire to consume the Bible and be planted in a strong Community of believers...The enemy hates these kinds of blessings & prayers and he (the spirit of lust) will flee from from you in a very short period of time...because he will realize that what he means for evil you will be using for good...The results you experience will astound you!!! Peace my friends!!!

I know I will never completely stop lusting until sanctification is complete and my faith is made sight with Him in glory. But I think as long as I continue fighting sin and desiring holiness and righteousness, it means that the spirit is doing His work in me. Don't stop praying, don't stop confessing, and don't stop hoping.

This message spoke to me so much, I'm in my 40's and still battle with this and have used all the tactics you used as a young man. I still avoid TV, movies and series that has anything "hot" in it LOL. its too much temptation. Even at work I pretty much have to walk around looking at the floor. This is the only way to win over it, you have to avoid it and don't put yourself in the situation and let it build cause it WILL build up and eventually hit you at night sub-consciously where you have no control no matter how strong you are in the day if you keep putting it in front of your eyes.

The only way you can beat lust is learning to Hate what is bad. You have to hate fornication. You have to hate porniea. this is not the physical, it is a mental battle. You can not hate what is bad if you are fantasizing on sexual thoughts and fornication and getting sexual rushes. This is a sign that you do not hate what is bad. Learn to hate what is bad and you will be free. If I am exposed to porneia, sexualized women, nasty music I no longer get a sexual rush, I get a sick feeling in my gut now. Because it is disgusting.

I prayed to Jesus to remove offensive sexual desire in me. You name the category on a porn site, I watched it an liked it. Gradually, I have overcome these through Jesus. Placing disgust where I once saw desire. Now when these bad thoughts occur from time to time, instead of giving in to my lust and sin I am filled with joy for another opportunity to prove my faith and love for God over fruitless earthly sin. Thanks be to Jesus! I love God with all my heart.

Discipline your eyes to gaze only on your wife! Avoid and get rid of Instagram, snap chat, porn sites, dating apps, I.e., tinder, etc. from your phone! Pray and fast! Fasting gets your spirit stronger with the Spirit of God, and keeps your flesh from getting out of control. And by all means don’t get drunk, it WILL lead you to debauchery, excess of lust and immoral sexual actions. Lastly, keep your eyes on The Lord Jesus! These are ways that help me.

Our gracious father is gracious enough to understand that we are held accountable for only what he says and comprehend! Im now 60 y.o.a. and I've learned that if we keep an open mind than we will learn until he takes us home, Amen!! You can't have it both ways Jesus is the only way right? Like does that make her not truly saved? What happens when the rapture happens and she's not what does that mean for us. I know the Bible said something about joining 2 different yokes or something..

I have always desired to have a wife and a life of normalcy. Yet it feels so distant for me. I feel like the only way for me is to go through a long season of just putting off my sexuality. I just don't know when it will end. I've been celibate for the past 9 years hoping my time will come. 9 years ago I would have thought that I would have been living a pure life by now but I'm still struggling. I'm sure some people can handle a life of singleness. From what I understand Paul did. I just feel so lonely walking this life without another person to share it with. At the same time I wouldn't want to bring this muck into a marriage and I feel that I will have to change for real if I'm going to deserve someone's daughter, a good woman as a wife. To be honest I feel deep down that it wouldn't be possible. I know that all men have sinned and that nobody is perfect. But I can't even remotely imagine how a woman living a sanctified life in purity would ever be able to accept my wretched past - and the thoughts that still come to surface in my depraved mind.

I love your channel! I have many questions. Start off with I am on dialysis 3 days a week. Turned down to get a kidney transplant. If I stop dialysis I will die soon after. Is it a sin to want to stop dialysis and want to die. I 53 yrs old and have 3 adult children that I love but they want nothing to do with me. ( I was a bad husband and bad father.)

It does no good to say, Don't Lust. The only way to win is to die to it. Weaken the flesh by fasting and by seeking and understanding the paradox of weakness.

Correction: It says the spirit lust (man's) against the flesh, and so the flesh lust after the spirit; not the Spirit of God

That was funny about the shotgun statement it's like a shotgun but I can't say that you know most of the shotguns he's thinking about are pump shotguns and you know what kind of motion you do when you use them! Not trying to be sick or anything

One of the ways you can beat lust is learning to Hate what is bad.

Funny how everyone wishes they were good looking without realizing how much harder it would be to remain pure when everyone is lusting after your beautiful body.

I've prayed many times that the supreme Court would outlaw online pornography, it is such a powerful stumbling block to many people including myself, the feminists in this country are very powerful, I wish they would take up this issue, for once I would support them.

It's amazing to see many similarities with islam with what the pastor has stated in terms of lust, being virgin before marriage, physical touch with the opposite gender, and controlling oneself from sexual desires. It's sad to see our current society being full this sexual exploitation and desires. From the bottom of my heart I pray to God in order to guide you and I would like to humbly invite you to Islam.

guess i've been 18 for the last 35 years then, lol my sex drive is a monster i need to keep caged in a deep dark dungeon. the only answer i can find for myself right now is 100% abstinence, don't look, don't touch, don't even think about it no matter how hard it is just keep getting closer to Jesus and push the addiction as far away as possible and after about a steady year of that it's pretty much starved mostly to death but it's still a conscious choice to keep that psychological surgery affectively in my past and don't let that wound rip itself open again and pull me in.. the best advice i can give is IF you stumble.. and you will... don't hate yourself for it just move on like it never happened. I heard once and agree that Satan's best tools against believers isn't just getting them to sin.. it's to jump in the instant they do and scream at them how horrible and disgusting and wretched they are for sinning AGAIN for the thousandth time and tell you that God could never want you back and shouldn't waste His time on you and things like that. DON'T BELIEVE THE LIES of the enemy. you fall down.. you get up.. and you keep walking, Jesus will hand you new cleans clothes to change into and keep walking beside you. as long as you're heart is always pushing to head in the right direction you'll get there eventually.

Isaiah 53:5, But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes, we are healed. For salvation, people just need to follow the way they did it in Acts? They were baptized in the water and of the spirit. Here's why! The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If we are to follow him, we must do the same thing. Death= repentance, Burial = baptism, and resurrection = being filled with the Holy Ghost and rising again from the dead. That's what Acts 2:38 is.We must obey the gospel, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that OBEY NOT THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ... Matthew 7:21-23, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER which is in Heaven. St John 3:3-5, EXCEPT a man be born of WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT, he cannot enter into the kingdom of GOD.We can't come up with our own gospel. Galatians 1:8-9, But though we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Don't be cursed. One way for all people. Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritan. Our salvation has to match-up with the scriptures and no scriptures on the subject can be taken away.Eternity is TOOO long to be WRONG! st, John 5:39, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.God told Noah exactly how to be saved, how he must build the ark. Noah didn't come up with his own plan like people are doing today. A sinner's prayer, you just have to believe, etc which is not in the bible. The gospels show what Christ has done on the cross for us. The book of Acts shows us the beginning of Christ's Church and how to enter the Church, obeying Acts 2:38. The letters were written to the Church to show us how to behave now that we are born again into the Church. It's better to walk alone than to walk with a crowd going in the wrong direction. Are we supposed to follow the teachings of the apostles? Acts 2:42, They continued steadfastly in the apostle's doctrines. Ephesians 2:20, We are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. If you believe in this message, help spread it in the name of Jesus Christ. God bless you.
