There used to be a car like this at the Imperial Palace Hotel Car museum in Las Vegas. It was putatively Al Capones armored limosine. It was , if I remember, a 1930 V-16 Cadillac. It had many of the features of this car plus an oil line from the crank case which would send a jet of hot oil on to the exhaust manifold to create a smoke screen. Standard equipment included a box of roofing nails to be dumped through a coffee can sized hole in the floor. There were gun ports in the thick armored door glass as I recall. The museum was broken up when the hotel change hands....where it went I can only guess. There were MANY historic cars that were dispersed in this corporate raid

At one time exhibited in carnivals across America and in England as a a Capone car, the Cadillac eventually returned to the United States in the mid-1960s and passed through a number of museums - the Niagara Falls Antique Auto Museum, the Cars of the Greats museum, and the Smoky Mountain Car Museum - before the late John O’Quinn added it to his collection in 2006. Offered at an RM auction at St. John’s with a $300,000 to $400,000 pre-auction estimate, the Cadillac sold for $341,000, including the 10 percent buyer’s premium. NADA’s stated value for a 1928 Cadillac Model 341 four-door town sedan is $41,200. This Video is NOT IT !!!!

Interesting and it may have been one of Capones car's? Some of that "armour plating" looks like new steel sheet. Even restored a sheet of steel nearly 100years old is going to have pitting and in those days I doubt it would be so flat and smooth. Just looks very fresh and too well cut. Also, by the time you folded down the window plates Capone would have been dead. So bullet proof glass and door panels would make more sense than all steel protection. But I may be wrong but someone else claims to have a 1928 Cadillac that belonged to Capone and it has 1inch bullet proof glass, drop down rear window and steel plate armour.

The excellent book "Public Enemies" reveals that Baby Face Nelson once commissioned the conversion of a large Hudson, IIRC, into a REAL armored car at one point during his solo career in the Midwest. Underworld contacts introduced him to a body man/mechanic and garage owner who specialized in this kind of work, incld. for criminals. When completed the car had (hidden) armor plating, a bullet-resistant windshield, uprated engine, a bigger fuel tank (providing longer range), and a couple of other tricks up its sleeve. Unfortunately, Nelson took delivery of the car just prior to pulling a bank job. When he used it to flee the scene, it went out of control b/c he was unused to the heavier braking action that was a consequence of its now-much greater weight. When he rounded the first corner in his flight from the bank, he took it too wide, side-swiped a parked car, swerved back into the center of the street and crashed head-on into an oncoming vehicle, killing and wounding the passengers. Nelson bailed out of the disabled armored car and ran for it, never seeing the special car again.

Ages ago 1980 in Costa Mesa, California working at a auto restoration shop I refinished the wood in a 1929 Cunningham limo 16 cylinder in very dark blue said was AL Capone's main car. 1 and three-- quarter inch thick glass, 1 inch thick steel plate in front of the radiator with 20 holes drilled out, a very large trunk with 2 inch leather straps and a 1 inch steel plate behind the trunk, solid rubber tires, and 3 inch square opening doors all around inside for machine guns, there was a wool throw carpet in the back with blood drops. Has anyone heard of this car ? Told it was from a museum in Chicago, Illinois. Stupid of me not to get a picture of gangster history. Oh the underneath looked like a train.

Im pretty sure who ever built al capones car would have done way better cut outs then this shit show, definitely not his car

Nope. Tyler yeah but you got to Understand there was not a lot of Texhnology as at today The important Thing Was that this Car Was made of Steele And They Had A Strong Engine
@kzero14995 жыл бұрын
@@raulparra2531 this car is fake, it looks like pure ass - none of the "armor" is cut right. You can see the green over-spray clearly in the door sills cause this guy painted this thing recently, others here mentioned this car used to be yellow. Capone's actual armored car had 1 inch thick glass all the way around as well.

Okay I see two possibilities... The first being that this car, which belonged to the most well-known criminal in history, and somehow managed to make it into this guy’s garage, was coincidentally stripped down by this man to reveal an armor package of thin sheet metal held to the roof by door hinges and modern Phillips screws... Teaching us two things... 1. That Al Capone must’ve been very cheap when constructing his 1927 “Limousine” (Which is interesting considering that his vehicle was actually a Town Car), and 2. The Smithsonian, National Geographic Society, every American History Museum, and every other qualified source in the world, we’re all totally cool with this car landing in this guy’s hands, and they were super cool with him tearing it apart to “restore” it... Or! The other possibility: This guy’s full of shit...
