Everyone always talks about neils technical ability and lyrics, but to me his compositions on the drums were as important. He recognized the music in this song was pretty basic and saw an opportunity to make it more interesting by contrasting the simple music with some busy and constantly changing drum parts. Smart. If all his beats were very basic this song would not be nearly as strong as it is.

Nicely done Jeremy! That part right after NP is on the hi hats at intro, the way you broke it down was very easy to understand. That part was continually giving me a hard time, but I can break it into parts, as you did. Thanks!

That 2nd fill in the beginning that you said, " You can play pretty much any way you want." I just watched a video of Neil, and he never moves his left hand from the snare and first Tom. His right hand is falling down to the floor base as his left plays snare and 1st Tom. I really want to learn that pattern.

Not trying to nitpick here but at around 7:10 you're playing a double snare hit (2 16th notes) at the end of the subdivided ride and hi hat pattern with the left hand and I don't think he's playing one there. I don't see him doing that in any videos and I don't see that in the 2 Subdivisions Transcripts I have. At the end of that whole 6 bar phrase, he does do a double snare hit but he does it with the Left Right hand pattern. The double snares you're doing at the end of each measure there is not what he's doing. Just thought I'd point that out. Great tune and very difficult (but fun) to play!
@E7MusicSchool2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mars! Ty for the feedback. I am actually going to be making an updated video that is exactly what he plays. 🙌
