Interesting test. Disclaimer-I ordered some dream mat and am looking forward to trying it in my Keene highbanker. Talking with old timers where I’m at, I learned something interesting they just use home made setups with expanded metal riffles and miners moss/outdoor carpet. They tell me to tune your setup, and pan your tailings to check for losses. With our sub 200 mesh flour gold they can run minimal losses from a homemade setup. As long as they run material slow, and don’t use a lot of water. The expanded metal makes a minimum of turbulence vs Hungarian riffles which according to them blows the fine gold out of the box. I suspect each of the mats he’s showcasing would probably have the same performance if the flow and angle was tuned for the individual mat. That’s why we are supposed to tune our setups. Checking my tailings if I use enough water to clear the riffles I was losing almost half the flour gold if I pump enough water to clear the riffles. Now, if I can have a low profile something like a dream mat I can run less water “energy” and still clear the pebbles from the box then I’m sold!

Loved the video !!! And i also love all the nay sayers here. First I am confident every comenter here is a weekend warrior wannabe just like myself. Is your test here flawed ? Yes it very much flawed. But so is everybody elses on there you tube channel. Every mat has its purpose but your mat seems to be the best " every circumstance " mat. Gold hog and i like doc makes some very good products. Only thing i dislike about his mats is they are to specific . You need to many mats to do a complete job. Next is almost every test I see is with controlled material. Problem here is the material is preped to how the manufacturer wants it to prove his value. Any way you get the idea. So for me I look at logical things. I talk to and see lots set ups. By far the most mats I see in use are the dream mats. By far the most replicated mat I see are dream mats. And by word of mouth recommendations is the dream mat. All that science you talk about means nothing to me or any of these other wanba be. Just set your equipment and test test test. After all that is exactly how you perfected your mat. Thx for reading my rant lol
@TheDSP19704 жыл бұрын
Your best mat, best flow angle, durt whatever. Run it. Then jerk out your mat put dream mat in it, run it the same. Gaurantee it will kick its a55. There's my rant.
@1kreature3 жыл бұрын
I would love to see this test being performed with the mats preloaded with black sands and let to clean out for a few mins. Anything deep enough can catch gold if it's pure, but if it just loads up with sand you just catch whatever was put in first. I am sure the Dream Mat would do great in such a test and would like to see it.
@waynelacroix88702 жыл бұрын
What happends with black sand in the dream mat is that the pockets do fill up with pebbles and slack sand but gold gets in under it and stays. The more gold that gets in the more black sand gets removed. The pockets stay active and are always swirling around keeping that non gold moving and working it out. If a small piece of gold does move down it will find another pocket to get trapped in. The dream mat is by far the most effective mat on the market! I use them all the time. I won't go back to the old way.
@RearviewMirror-ij2pr8 ай бұрын
Yeah, a real world test would be the litmus.
@1kreature8 ай бұрын
@@waynelacroix8870 I know it is, and I know that is what will happen but I'd like to see it in a video. My silicone mats are similar to dream mats but I designed mine to have smaller pockets and vortexes at the top and progressively larger down the mat. Then I covered the top section in fine and medium mesh so the upper section self classifies to avoid the larger pebbles filling the tiny pockets. So far it has worked wonders.
@jaysunkreuze14666 ай бұрын
This test is useless. First, my bucket can also catch all the gold if that's all I'm running. Second, each mat runs at a different water flow, and it's clear the flow was altered to favor the dreamer Gucci mat. And third, my miners moss and expanded metal catches far more gold at varying water flows and we all know water flow is never a constant. Throw in a shovel or bucket of pay and watch the surge through the sluice. Gucci mat is not for production, but as a hobby mat in a hobby sluice where the pay is carefully metered. I'll never buy any Gucci mat product.

So I have a gold buddy sluice that has the aluminum riffles over the mat. If I bought one of these mats should I leave it off and just glue the DM to the box? I'm very new to gold sluicing and panning
@JuneBugJoe3 ай бұрын
now id like to see a test between the different sizes of mat with dirt material running through as well. compare the bare mat or having expanded metal over the top of the mat or riffles above the mat or both riffles and the expanded metal over the mat. or if a classifier screen in the sluice box over the mat is better keeping fine material only going through and how much space should be kept between the mat and classifier to get the water effect. also does it work with it below miners moss? would they clean out if it was the mat then miners moss then expanded metal and hungarian riffles in sections over the top? is that all unnecessary in a large sluice box?

This test demonstration is not entirely fair. because the same water flow was used over 4 mats that all require a different volume of water. The GoldHog mats use about a 1/3 less water then the Dream mat...Also those mats ONLY work according to the ground being tested, water volume, sluice angle, sluice width, qty of heavy sands, size and shape of gold, size and shape of black sands, clay content...etc. That is WHY Doc at Gold Hog says to match your mat and mining equipment to meet the soil conditions

I know Rob on the saw tooth uses an 1100 but he relies on his elevation to cut him down to somewhere near 900 and I do 1100 on a three stack, 1000 on a 5 stack and about 900 when I go 7 stack. It's one of the great things about the dream mat, you don't need anything else. You can often use it without classifying and just dump in material. As for the other mats, in this situation it seems reasonable, its just showing how long it takes to be pulled out of them.

Some observations, then questions: 1. The flow is the same for all. 2. The slope is the same for all. Question #1: Was the flow set best for the Dream Mat? 2. Was the slope set best for the Dream Mat? If so, then obviously, the competition would not do very well.

The basic idea of your mats process...perpetually moving gold backwards and a downwards spiral.... All other designs move gold down the mat with waterflow and spins it in a horizontal rolling out the mat motion..basically all other mats perpetuate migration by design. Dream mat works on the same principle that's used in all mats... it just has higher capacity cavities. For a field sluice, that's not bad. I think the reason naysayers don't care for it, is 'cause they don't SEE as much gold, because the finer groove mats separate black sands better. I think the difference here, is are you PRPSPECTING, or are you focusing on recovery? If your goal is to extract gold in-process, then stick with groove mats. If your goal is to gather the richest CONCENTRATES, then Dream Mat is the way to go. If you're working a location for a long period of time, and it's not easily accessed by a vehicle, then you may not want to carry 6-10 buckets of concentrate for a couple miles. You'd be better off capturing what you can on-site, marking your tailings, and coming back another day.

Your gold seems to majorily be in the first few cells, where as the gold hog has that beautiful shiny all the way down the mat.. and even in GH videos, the material he runs, his angles, and speed, the gold has traveled all the way down the mat, hence the different capture zones. The dream mat will easily take more or less angle/flow than any of the other mats. And no lm not in any way associated with them, lm just an Australian prospector.

Dream Mat guy isn't acknowledging the proven quality of his competitors' overall SYSTEMS - and the experiences in the field of hundreds, if not thousands of prospectors getting as close to zero losses as is reasonably possible with production sluices and highbankers. Dream Mat is a great product, absolutely. But it's not the only great product. And it's not the only great SYSTEM. Those other companies would NOT be in business if thei individual parts of their systems were as weak as this demo tries to make them seem. And yes, Dream Mat is probably the best in the bunch when it comes to low flow, so of course this demo will paint that product in a favorable light. This test does not highlight the quality of the overall GH system. In other words - it's testing mats head to head versus SYSTEMS.

This is a really cool test! Thank you for sharing. Very informative. It makes a persuasive case - within the limitations of the test. There are a few design flaws. First, your dream mat probably had the strongest VORTEX of all the mats due to its cyclonic design - at that particular water flow level (leading to superior centrifugal force, etc). Second, your dream mat may have had the best ANGLE of all of them. This may have led to your mat having superior retention in this test. I'm willing to bet if you re-ran the test with each mat having its ideal water flow and angle concurently (perhaps impossible but hear me out) - there would be far fewer losses on the other products. Your other competitors have run their own tests (available on KZbin) and are getting 98% retention in some cases. The bottom line is all of those mats are incredible technologies and are world class - within their own particular ideal operating parameters. Know thy equipment. Again, an amazing test and it certainly sheds some light on the power of your design. Great job! : )

More angle & more flow just makes the others loose more gold. Any slower or flatter, the gold does not even come off the slick plate. There is no istance w/ the others, that more flow or angle help. Gravity & force, for every action there is a reaction.

Plus they market 98% or more. With test that are flawed. Never has any of them did a scientific test like this. Cause they have gold go down farther, thus proving it's not so. They have to rely on marketing. I'll rely on physics.

Интересная затея🤔 Смущает пару моментов, но лучше всё проверить практически. Сделаю такой же перепроверю.
