I recently purchased the Original Cabin twist. Super expensive but I had wanted a Rimowa cabin trolley for a long time, like the 10 years prior to the pandemic when I was flying 75k miles/year. Ironically I finally bought one now that I’m not traveling nearly as much. Oh well. Hope to travel more soon. I still enjoy looking at it and tapping on the aluminum while it sits in my closet 😅

I've had mine Check-in version one for 7 years, I've had it repaired about 6 times now, the lock keeps poping open on it. Yes the lock keeps poping open on it... i've had things slide out and i've had the lock open on me while walking.. Rimowa said the classic flight lock is delicate and a sales rep even told me he sees it all the time and he would never personally get one himself... wtf?? Anyway i got sick of being on vacation and tying my suitcase closed. Maybe the small version is good, but i would never get the check in version again. Its been one of the worst purchases of my life.

Best to invest in carry on luggage and save on checked luggage. Away has a lifetime warranty on its products. If you travel often, I would spring for the Rimowa cabin/cabin S and get an Away medium or large suitcase to check. That way you won’t need to get another carryon, and can replace your checked suitcase whenever it gets busted.

Rimowas production quality has been the same, had to repair mine pre-LVMH and had to repair my new one post-LVMH acquisition. Mediocre but better than most

@@cathhl2440 Yes, I bought one a year ago and use it each week. Rimowa now even changed their warranty policy to lifelong instead of 5years. So yeah I think it is definitely good quality but if it is worth the expensive price idk

I personally think the weight is the biggest drawback for me. I don't like having to play Yay or Nay with my clothes and shoes, because there is a weight limit for carry-on. They don't normally check on international airlines. But if you are unlucky, they'll throw it in check-in.

I think the original has a better lock. But so far no problems with both of them and using the carry on of course a lot more.
