This wonderful interview continues with Cofounder of Supertramp Roger Hodgson. Roger describes his magical process of song writing.
Roger began writing songs at the age of 12 and performed his first concert of original songs at the age of 13. He later recorded some of his songs with Supertramp and many of them have become the soundtrack of our lives. Although Roger and Supertramp's other co-founder, Rick Davies, shared writing credit, they actually wrote and composed separately with each singing their own songs. Every song Roger performs in concert was written and composed by him.

Inspiring comments from fans:
"I am so inspired by Rogers journey and how he follows his deep intuition. . I see him as a man who has experienced alot of deep pain etc but has always been enabled to overcome so much in his life . I think its his ability to be real and sincere through his songs and interview that touches me the most. All i can say is " Thank you for being you and sharing your heart."
"I've often wondered how Roger wrote his many masterpieces. It is so obvious that Roger's songs came from a deep place inside of him, as he says. No wonder so many people relate to the lyrics and can find comfort in them."
"What an incredible story he's been through alot. Roger is a very rare beautiful human being, musician. Thank you for sharing this wonderful interview and your music. I love him!"

What I noticed about Roger Hodgson performing with Supertramp was how his light shined through playing the guitar, singing one of his songs, playing the keyboard or the piano. When he did shine his light it felt so good in comparison to the other performers. There were times like in Paris where the group performed better as a group. It was obvious in other videos where the group had issues in other places.

Roger certainly has a special light about him! I'm very thankful for his music. I've gone through and experienced a lot of unbelievable things while growing up and a countless number of times his music has been a helping hand, comforting friend, a light of hope. His music is timeless, crosses all boundaries and barriers and touches so many hearts.

Hello my name is Paul Matthews. I just read your comments and I feel the same regarding Supertramp I'm 48yrs old now and have listened to them since I was a young teenager. And over the years every time I hear Supertramp it touches me very deeply. And after seeing this interview with Roger Hodgson talking about an awakening or Spiritual re birth, Io can relate to this so much. I love the phrase he uses 'Spiritual compass' . God bless. Paul

Roger's story is the story of our lives. It's amazing to see how began at age 12 years to compose his songs, casually, that was my age when I met and joined their music, and their songs began to have great significance in training of my person.

I enjoyed both parts of the interview. Roger is such an enjoyable, modest and spiritual person. You can see how much he loves his calling in life and his appreciation of the gifts he has in bringing music to people. I waited for the lady to ask him about a possible reunion with Supertramp and it sounded like the band didn't have any interest in the idea. If it does not happen, so be it. Roger's songs will always be magical and special to me. Thanks for the music Roger!

I’ll never forget when I first heard Roger’s guitar work on I’m Not Afraid. I totally freaked out because that was the first time I heard someone play and thought “That sounds like me!” Now that I’ve heard him talk, I realize he thinks like me too. It’s given me a sense of validation from someone I’ve never even met. Forget the thousands of people cheering, it’s a musician you admire giving an honest complement that does it for me.

Supertramp was blessed with the different yet complementary very talented musicians. Roger Hodgson has am artistic, wonderfully poetic, melodic, sometimes lyrically sad and melancholic gift. Rick Davies is a technicality accomplished musician, with deep and meaningful lyrics to his songs. Both wonderful talents with Roger stylistic and charismatic, and Rick, more rock and roll, bluesy approach. Brilliant combination yet sadly their split is our loss. I always felt Roger expressed the supertramp style, and for me he seems to have more successfully carried the musical essence of their message, despite Rick retaining the group’s naming rights.

Love this man and his music. Roger was a joy to meet in person and to talk to. I will always remember it as it happened in Edmonton - during K-days. I enjoyed his antique (white with amazing designs) Grandma organ he brought over from England, to enjoy playing with among so many other awesome instruments he played, like the electric drums. Thanks Roger for touching my heart and soul with your music.
