My personal headcanon is that, if Joey beat Marik and won Ra, he wouldn't be able to unlock it from Sphere Mode due to a lack of Hieratic fluency. He then proceeds to use Sphere Mode to become an absolute menace, showing that he doesn't need to unlock Ra to boardwipe and wall his opponents.

Ironically, the most powerful effect of the TCG god cards (tributing three of your opponent’s monsters for Sphere Mode) wasn’t in the anime or manga. I’m actually just realizing this. Mai and Bakura stole Ra from Marik’s deck/hand with Amazoness Chain and, I think, Exchange respectively, then summoned it themselves on their own turns. They just weren’t able to utilize Ra themselves because Mai couldn’t read the text so Ra stayed in Sphere Mode until the turn passed to Marik and he could recite the chant, and Bakura had his tributes’ stats reduced to 0 by Yami Marik so Ra came out with a 0/0 stat line and Bakura was unaware of Ra’s other effects like LP conversion and the destruction effect, so he ended up tributing it for something else, allowing Marik to cheat it out of the GY since anime/manga Ra could be special summoned for a single turn.

They should have their anime effect, but level 12’s and limited. It always feels odd cards where only one of existed in the anime could be played at three of per deck. Also Yugi, Seto, and Marik played their own deck with a god card added, whereas in the real world an entire deck needs to revolve around them, just to be mediocre. Such wasted potential.

Yes and no. He had the card's data captured and Mokuba started working on deciphering it before Kaiba showed up and realized he could read it on his own. Mokuba only worked on it for about the first half of Kaiba's duel with Ishizu. Once Mokuba saw Ishizu activate Exchange of Spirit, he abandoned his duties to come watch the game in person. And yet he still didn't get fired.

the gods were pretty op in the pendulum era in my opinion. It became much easier to get the three monsters on the field to sacrifice. Matter of fact you could bring them out turn one if you had the right opening hand. I also remember a card which i think was called "mound of the bound creator" which protected level 10 monsters from all card effects. Which was technically not made as divine support, but it just specified "Level 10 monsters" and not "Earthbound immortals"

I was thinking the same with cards who are originally DEVINE Devine-Beasts. Cannot be targeted by opponent’s effects and (one per turn) not destroyed by card effects, you know the rest. Maybe have some of the support cards in the extra deck that active when summoning one. It would eat up extra deck and S/T space, but give them a boost without being OP since the opponent would need to destroy them to weaken the god(s). Each one should be limited too.

They did Ra so dirty. If ONLY they kept his ATK and DEF gain effect equal to the ATK and DEF of his tributes it would’ve been so much better. His biggest problem was he was a weak boss monster with little to no protection. Use his LP to 100 effectively makes it a Niberu token thats not a token. To make it worse you basically have to choose which underwhelming effect you want to use since to use one or the other you need LP to use.

With Vampire Sucker and Zombie World, every high level monster is a kaiju suddenly. Mix that with Ultimeat Offering and the Floo continuous spell, you can kaiju your opponent's entire field, and then some

I think Obelisk is the best god card because it actually has attack points and protection. You can summon Slifer but if you only have a card or two in your hand, its trash Ra is only decent if you build an entire deck around it

Slifer would only be an option if your opponent has no cards on the field since it can act as a floodgate against monsters with 2,000ATK or less (but not 0ATK lol). Setting 1 or more Reckless Greed sounds funny with Slifer, they are clunky to use for how under powered they are and how much support is unfortunately required.

If I could make a new archetype it would be called the “Ascension” archetype, containing light attribute monsters who are used to ritual summon bigger monsters that are needed to fusion summon huge Divine attribute monsters that are immune to almost all forms of removal and all cards/effects from the opponent. The deck’s main strategical focus would be board control(near indefinite) and swinging over your opponent’s field(in one turn, once you have at least one fusion monster). Most monsters in the archetype would be warrior, beast, beast-warrior, or dragon type.

I think Halactie is partially to blame for Divine Beast / Divine Attribute support being so hit and miss. If it were too easy to get the Gods on board a Halactie OTK would become a viable strategy.

If the Egyptian god cards had their manga effects they would completely break the game and would be nigh invincible. Contrary to what duel logs said they have far better protection than Ultimate Falcon. Aside from their effect immunity to basically anything they also can’t be destroyed by battle with a monster of lesser divine hierarchy (basically anything other monster) and you take no battle damage. On top of all of that they can’t be tributed by your opponent so the only viable option left (the kaijus) is out of the window. On top of their bonkers protection they also have insane offensive and field control effects. Yeah, they would break the game.

If you dont care for the type you legally have to summon Quantum Cat or Swamp Mirrorer with Devine Beast. If you dont care for the attribute you legally have to summon Quantum Cat or Swamp Mirrorer with Devine. Same as En Passant in chess.

Slifer fits well into a "playing card" deck. The kings/queens/jack deck. I think he needs to be lower on the list.

if you stop your oponent's turn going first then you can easly win next turn and if you go second you can force an otk a lot of the time so your oponent wont get to draw

​@MinaEskandar-q7k adding onto the answer you got, there are 2 factors that contribute to why their answer is right. 1. Smaller field means that for a lot of decks if you use it early in their turn like after they summon 2 monsters, you've probably locked them out of extra deck plays. So it's way easier to shutdown a turn with it than in non-speed format 2. Less handtraps available. Decks will usually only run 2-3 handtraps if any at all (it's not uncommon to see handtrapless decks). This means that there's a good chance that even if they draw 4 cards that they won't draw into anything that will stop you from going for your full combo into an otk on your turn

THEY SHOULD MAKE A FUSION SUMMON MONSTER DIVINE BEAST CARD LIKE LETS SAY This that I just thought of... Egyptian God slifer the sky dragon... Level 12 divine beast requires slifer the sky dragon and unnamed pharaoh(also new monster card that I thought of so) one of them must be in the field.... To summon this card and this cards summon can not be negated Effect: it has the effects of slifer and it can not be targeted by monster effects and unaffected by spells and traps..... And the moment it is summon it can a set spell card that has the slifer the sky dragon on its text... same for the other divine beast cards... So they have their anime capabilities but in a fusion card........ And more modernized kind
