One of the most hilarious Iron Chain Snake plays I ever saw was - Repairman - > Summon Snake -> Infernal Reckless Summon -> Kaiju opponent's monster - Equip all three Snakes to Kaiju -> Attack into Kaiju with almost anything. You can get 30 cards in GY with that. It's hilarious - but also doesn't work that consistently.

So I'd have to hope that my opponent shoguns Maxx "C" or has a mandatory Monster effect so I could search Foolish with Thrust. (And even then, there's no easy way to search for Quick-Play Spells...)

As a venom deck player - in an old format - I must speak. Venominaga is not even close to be a bad card in her archetype. Because the whole archetype is an absolute disgrace. If I had to elect one to be the worst card in the archetype, it would be Venom Boa : 1600/1200 level 5 reptile. So must be tribute summoned. That's a very bad start, but may be the effect will justify it ? His effect :" you can put 2 venom counters on a monster." Yeah, well, that's not very good. Oh, there's more ? Let's see it : "If you do, this monster can't attack this turn". Yup. Venom Boa, lemme tell you that you suck. (Sorry, I had to)

I disagree with Venominaga being on here personally yes she's tough to bring out but she's still a solid card she's unaffected by basically everything minus getting tributed and when used with cards like Snake rain she can become a powerful beater. Not to mention she has a built in win condition Sure she's hardly a viable card but I don't think she belongs in the same catagory as toon alligator or any of these other cards. All that's really needed for her to become viable is for her Archetype to get some more support Venoms are in desperate need of some
@superbaas88225 ай бұрын
Sadly, we couldn't hear her over the sound of a tribute summoned Kaiju.

Agreed, in a video that already has pretty controversial/sensationalist placements (Worm Zero as the second worst Worm monster despite having at the time phenomenal removal that acted as a great Future Fusion target for mass dumping back when Future Fusion was still a good card), it just felt like he didn't do any due diligence when researching Vennominaga. Vennominaga's alt win condition is bad, yeah, but only because she's likely swinging for enough damage to take the game before it could ever come into play. The complaint that her blanket protection is "too good" is patently absurd when most decks aren't going to be fiddling with attack manipulation in the first place. And while historically Vennominaga was difficult to summon, in the modern game you can do so off a single activation of Trap Track, making a small engine for summoning her shockingly easy to slot into a standard Reptile Pile if you so choose (the utility of which already puts her well above actual bad Reptile cards). Vennominaga is still a bad card, mind you, it gives no interruption during the opponent's turn and can be outed with ease by any deck that can put out 4 bodies and slot Underworld Goddess, but so far as big gimmicky beatsticks go you could do way worse and hilariously it could even be a fun tech option if we ever get a Reptile archetype that doesn't just end up turning into A-Counter lock down turbo again.
@GamingG427627 күн бұрын

That literally comes off as someone who has NEVER played Yugioh in thier life, just watched videos and for some reason REALLY hates cards with alternate win conditions. If you're playing with a Venominaga deck, sure you might not win all the time, but you'll be smart enough to set up your deck to play around the difficult conditions to go for the win. If you put Vennominon on board, most decks will just banish it or battle into it. You can’t rely on matchup inexperience. If you destroy it yourself, the common decks have trap negates. How many reptiles can you put into grave turn 1? Even if using grass in a 60 card deck going first, you hit 20 reptiles for 10000k atk max. (Excluding Snake rain and stuff) About as unrealistic as your opponent just happening to have the out. What’s stopping your opponent from hitting the venominaga in grave with Crow or Called By? Kaijus are searchable in some decks these days you know? The graveyard effect of Venominaga is also negatable.
@harryf98855 ай бұрын
You have some stuff wrong about the not flip effect monster flip effect monsters. Only ones that say “when this card is flip summoned” like swarm of scarabs work like you are describing, in fact those are actually a bit worse because you can’t use an effect to flip them face up to get their effects off. However the ones that just say “flipped face up” (like flip-flop frog) are actually better than regular flip monsters because they can flip themselves down, but still work if attacked into or flipped up by an effect, really the only downside is losing the flip specific support. You become very familiar with these mechanics if you are a Subterror player in duel links because we don’t have guru yet, so we play a variety of monsters that can flip themselves down so we can special summon the high level Subterrors. Or use book of moon on a nemesis warrior in a pinch

Using a variety of venomous snakes based off real snakes, such as gaboon viper, mambas, rattlesnakes, coral snakes, adders, taipans, etc. they either hide coiled like a trap flipped face down on the field or in the hand like a hand trap. The purpose is to arm yourself with these snakes to weaken opponent's monsters and inflict burn damage. These strategies are to build toward the ace monster hydras born by combinations of these snakes with more offensive strategies like multi attacks or double damage, depending on what snakes are on the field. There is hand and flip support, with the field spell preventing face down cards from being affected by card effects

Meanwhile this card’s Gemini effects let you special summon other versions of itself while also making it return to your Pendulum zone should it leave the field. And I chose the Pendulum/Tuner/Gemini type combo because it simply doesn’t exist in the actual card game yet, so this card would have a BIG suite of support cards to tap into.
@cullenlatham23665 ай бұрын
the main problem comes from that gemini tag, and the way the game treats those cards. You make the assumption a normal monster can have an effect before being gemini summoned solely for the sake of letting the card be searched by another copy of itself. If you didnt already see the problem: a *normal* monster with an *effect*. It doesnt matter that the inherent effect is passive: by definition, having the effect means the monster is by definition, an effect monster. Simply sticking the generic gemini text on the card to treat it as a normal monster does not redefine the card as a normal monster. All precedent says the effect has to come at the COST of gemini, and not be present before the second summon. Maybe you could get away with some of this if it was changed from normal monster to the grey area of non-effect monsters, but the card as written still breaks all the rules of precedent. It all depends on the internal rules for the design of cards that could easily be considered a "company secret", in which case all we have to work with is the context of precedent. We can move the passive effects past the gemini clause, but then the card has all the same flaws as gemini monsters. Is it really worth leaving a 0/0 on the field for 2 turns? It would be dead by the time you could use its special summoning effect, and doesnt pay off as an instant XYZs to make it worth the investment. With all that in mind, you are trying to add a 1 card engine to a deck without searches or special summoning, all while requiring it to stay on the field for 2 turns to get the engine online while giving it no stats to protect itself. Might as well give it battle immunity once gemini-ed, since it cannot have it beforehand. But still, to get it online, you need something to prevent it from being destroyed, which even on the generic side requires a second card, alternatively, a way to special summon it out, which again is a second card, and maybe even an extra normal or gemini support to get the gemini summon off in the first turn it hits the field. That is, when generous, a 2 card combo of currently unsearchables to get the card working, and 3-4 if we are being certain it will stick around long enough to give us value. Yes, all of this is under the assumption precedent provides that gemini have to be effect-less till their second summon, but this would also be quite the interesting choice to be the card that introduces the reworked gemini tag as part of an undefined archetype (card lore is a completely different metric few actually notice).

@@cullenlatham2366 Here, let me revamp the card a bit then, see if this helps more: _The Fated Gigobyte_ (WATER) Level 1 0⬅️➡️13 _Face-up Normal and Gemini monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle. During your Main Phase, you can Normal Summon 1 Normal or Gemini monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) Once per turn, if you Summon a Level 4 or lower Normal or Gemini Monster, You can add 1 Level 5 or Higher Normal or Gemini Monster to your hand from your deck. Once per turn, if you Summon a Level 5 or Higher Normal or Gemini Monster, You can add 1 Level 4 or lower Normal or Gemini Monster to your hand from your deck._ Reptile/Pendulum/Tuner/Gemini _This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field or in the GY. While this card is a Normal Monster on the field, you can Normal Summon it to have it become an Effect Monster with these effects._ _⚪️Once per turn, (Quick Effect) you can Special Summon 1 Normal or Gemini Monster from your Hand or Deck._ _⚪️If this Face-Up card you control would leave the field, place it in your Pendulum Zone instead, and if you do: Special Summon 1 “Gigo” or “Byte” Reptile monster from your hand, deck or GY._ ATK/350 DEF/300 THERE, I… ⚪️Spiced up the Pendulum Scales to be 0⬅️➡️13 (to give it some of the best scales in the game to have). ⚪️Put your battle immunity suggestion in the Pendulum effects to apply for Normal Monsters (Which Gemini monsters are treated as while on the field until their Gemini Summon). ⚪️Retuned it’s Special Summon Gemini effect to be used on ANY Normal or Gemini monster from your hand or deck, AND made it a Quick Effect to make it more useful. ⚪️And I collapsed the original “Gigo” or “Byte” Reptile monster summon into the Pendulum Zone self-placement effect, and expanded it to include from the GY (so you can get out the Xyz “Gigo” monster if it’s in said GY.) Besides all that, I was aware of the first point you had made, and was banking on the Tuner and Pendulum bits (and the support cards they have access to) to make up for how bad the Gemini part was (plus Gemini monsters have some potent support cards themselves, so I thought having a Tuner and/or Pendulum monster that can take advantage of those would be interesting for players trying to play 4D Chess with their deck building.)

@@ButFirstHeLitItOnFire eh, i think with the revamp i saw some of where my confusion came from. pretty rare to see pendulums in suggestions, so here i was thinking the scales were atk/def. My own reference for pendulums really ends at solfachords, so i really cant speak on their balance and just completely missed the separation between pendulum effect and monster effect. It is an interesting concept for a card in general, but i am not sure i am as qualified to judge its balance in this abstract sense, ESPECIALLY with limited pendulum context and the word salad pendulums become. 13 might be excessive for scales, especially when the original effect was special summoning lvl 5s to make it an archetype. If we want to avoid breaking the scales too much, maybe a 3-9 with the clause of "if this card is used to pendulum summon a normal or gemini monster, its scale becomes 0 or 13, whichever number is closer to its current value" (dont want a generic summoning the yubel archetype, eh?), but again, i realize just how far out of my depth i got when i completely ignored the pendulum tag.

@@cullenlatham2366 It took me a while to figure out pendulum monsters too. Just watch a video that explains them “for dummies” or the like and look at some preexisting Pendulum monsters from the Wiki, and you’ll get the gist of them soon enough. But anyway, the card is designed to help support Normal and Gemini monsters in equal measure, and given the power gap between them and effect monsters, I had to get a tad… drastic. Imagine if you would, a starting hand with nothing but 2 of this card and any number of Normal and/or Gemini monsters….You can place the 2 of this card in your Pendulum Zones, then Normal or Pendulum summon in any order you see fit to maximize the card’s summoning and search capabilities. Maybe use your 2 Normal Summons to search out a few more Normal or Gemini monsters (if 1 of this card is in each of your P. Zones, the search effects SHOULD actually double up, letting you search 2 cards from 1 summon), then pendulum summon them all while your hand is nice and fat with them, and continue your plays with them while they’re also all safe from battle destruction. If it all seams like overkill, remember: _The worse the kinds of cards you’re working with, the more legroom they have for strong support._ Like how cards (like “Grinder Golem” when Link monsters first came out) can become menaces overnight after being mediocre or just plain awful after a change in the game suddenly makes them relevant.

@@ButFirstHeLitItOnFire yeah, i learn through doing, not so much watching, especially something as complicated as pendulums. I understand the basics, but the relevant archetypes are some of the most complicated because of word salad. I can piece it all together for archetypes of exclusively pendulums (hence liking solfachords once i moved away from melodious), but it is the mixed archetypes (like performapal) that throw me off, even moreso without the context of arc v or in the different format that is DL. XD Exactly what i mean about being "too broken". Pendulums have the highest skill floor of the mechanics, but there is so much generic support out there for nearly any type of card that you have to take certain precautions to avoid an instant ban. limiting the scales when not using it for the category of normal, non-effect, and gemini is just one way to limit its potential as a generic staple that would be included in ANY deck that can support pendulums without being their central gimmick. A blanket 0L13R might just be too powerful to integrate into the game without a caveat, as even decks that dont use pendulums might just consider adding this single card at 3 of if they can get to it consistently to bring out high level boss monsters that otherwise would be difficulty to swarm. The problem isnt that it has a 13 for the sake of normals, gemini, and non-effect, but that it is non-archetype specific: bringing its default scales down to 3-9 still lets it get out boss monsters, but not ones so broken they could single-handedly win the game. a lvl 12 normal isnt going to shake up the game with no protection, only act as a body worthy of its 12 stars at around the 4000 cap youd expect from all but the most niche of cards, perhaps even 4500 for lack of effect, but bringing out a random yubel when the opponent doesnt expect it CAN win the game immediately, especially with the setup to bring it up to a stage of being directly offensive. Probably not the best example, but DL is also a smaller pool where Yubel has left a more permanent mark on the game's history than it practically ever did in the TCG.

27:44 Idea to play into the “Hydra” aspect of this card: _The Lernaean Hydra Viper_ (WATER) Level 4 Reptile/Effect _If you control a Face-up “The Lernaean Hydra Viper”, you can Special Summon this card from your GY. Can make additional attacks per battle equal to number of Face-up “The Lernaean Hydra Viper” you control. If this card is destroyed by battle, or removed for the field by an opponent’s card: Either Special Summon 1 “The Lernaean Hydra Viper” from your hand, or add 1 “The Lernaean Hydra Viper” to your hand from your deck._ ATK/1800 DEF/400

With Venominaga i want to throw in that they did make "offering to the snake diety" wich was "icarus atack" for reptiles, & Venominon can still be summoned by spells/traps, so you can use "damage=reptile" to get Venominon, use OttSD to pop him+2, use RotSD & there she is ! Still a hard to summon boss monster thats part of an awful archetype but it got me some inconsistent wins back in the day

At least you could run Swarm of Scarabs in a Dream Clown/Blade Rabbit deck in Ultimate Masters 2006. Oddly enough one of my favorite cards to include in those kinds of decks is stumbling since it allows you to activate the effect of Blade Rabbit or Dream Clown upon normal summoning them.

So there is a way to cheat out Vennominaga fairly easily, with the card Trap Tracks Find a way to summon Vennominon (Ogdoadic Water Lily/ Serpent Strike probably being your best options) and set Trap Tracks Pass turn, flip Tracks. It sets a normal trap from deck that you can use immediately at the cost of destroying a monster. So you get Snake Deity, which has its conditions instantly fufilled since Vennominon was just destroyed by card effect so bam mostly free Vennominaga Problem then becomes that yeah she doesn't do anything. Hell if you're playing reptiles it means you've got a lot of them in grave and will most likely just kill your opponent with big attack before the hyper counters even come into it AND since you had a bunch in grave anyway you could probably have won much easier much earlier

Funny, I was looking through some of my old cards earlier today trying to find some copies of A Legendary Ocean and stumbled upon a copy of Hydra Viper and read it just to miss the aqua requirement on it since I thought "huh maybe that would have been useful if you had some Scape Goat tokens on your field you wanted gone back in the day or something" but now that I know the truth of its effect I see that there was no redeeming quality/situation for it like I thought there was.
