A hard tail definitely shines at DTE, but like others said I usually keep my rear shock locked out until i get to a chunky section and ill put it halfway so I can huck and not worry about anything. The biggest factor that allowed me to start clearing all of those jumps was getting faster on turns and carrying more speed. Awesome video once again!

I just am so glad to be back in my dirt...its very special dirt here don't ever take it for granted!! Hey guys, I met you yesterday at Ray's MTB park, and found this video while looking up the sugar loop as you suggested. Had a good laugh when I recognized you. Trail looks super fun. This entire DTE trail system didn't exist when I lived here. Unfortunately, the site says it's closed due to the spring thaw type conditions. But I'll keep checking and figure out a bike rental option in case it opens. Thanks for the advice! Also, if you have any suggestions on where to rent, let me know.

Have you tried Maybury State Park? Also, try locking out your rear shock, effectively turning your full squish bike into a hard tail.

Not yet. How does it compare to Back Nine and Roller Coaster at Stony? I think I'll try it locked out next time. Good idea. Also, your comment on the chin mount video disappeared. I put links in the description now if you want to check it out.
@robion915 жыл бұрын
@@dukeofmtb I'm not sure how it compares to the other trails. I actually live in Houston but I grew up in SE Michigan. I travel back and forth often and I want to try some of the Michigan trails. I've ridden Maybury and I really enjoyed it. I was hoping you can compare it to the other SE Michigan trails. I'll check the description for the camera mount. That is an awesome setup. You should try to patent a design and start Manufacturing your design.
@dukeofmtb5 жыл бұрын
@@robion91 Yeah, all full face helmets should come with a chin mount. 😁
@Katabatic445 жыл бұрын
@@dukeofmtb Maybury is actually where ive ridden the most this season because its the closest to me. Its a great trail, though the second half is a lot of climbing. Probably the best section of it is the middle of it, which you can actually session a bit because it cross cuts a paved pathway which you can take to ride back up to the top (have a look at the trailforks map to see what I mean - its on the right hand side). Lots of downhill and speed to be had there. There's lots of fun features and optional lines you can take all throughout the trail, and even relatively big jump/drop toward the middle. Good mix of smooth and chunky sections. Definitely check it out, its one of the better trails IMO. If I could compare it to a trail, I would say its Pontiac-lite (only in that its half as long)

I think I’m gonna have one day build a rock roll like the one at the five minute mark in my backyard. The only difference is it’s going to be a super technical rock climb and I live in New England where there’s lots of rocks.
@dukeofmtb4 жыл бұрын
Sweet! This is actually a two way trail. It alternates depending on the day of week. So on the days that it goes the other direction, that section is a technical rock climb.

I found your video on trailforks.com. I loved watching this video. I gave it a thumbs up and subscribed. You 2 are super enthusiastic and real. Great sound great clips of you being yourselves. You guys are enthusiastic and not being macho at all. Not talking over anybody. Of course you gave a great picture of the trail. Just a note for the less experienced riders, the trail is more flowyness than features. Thank you for sharing. One question. Your sound is awesome, and I would love to learn a bit about what you did so I can implement some of these methods in the vids on my channel. I you used some generic recording method and mixed it up post production? Any insight would be great to hear about. I hope your ribs are doing better. I am glad to hear you mention not pushing your luck. It is smarter and more real than most videos. Thanks again.
@dukeofmtb5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the encouragement. Regarding the sound: I run my GoPro7 in Stereo Mode only and Raw Off. Naturally, I also put a foam wind cover on it. Then in post, I run a highpass filter to get rid of the last bit of bassy wind noise. Then with the Mastering Audio effect in premiere pro, I run 15% exciter, 100% widener, and 10% loudness maximiser. Then finally, I use the fill left with right effect to duplicate the right audio channel onto the left. The right channel picks up my voice better while the left channel sounds a bit muffled and windy. Cory wears a lapel mic attached to a small audio recorder that I sync in post. That's how she's almost always audible in most of our vids. I hope this helps.

I'm torn on the Sugar Loop. Some of the best features are CCW, but the trail feels less climby CW. CW feels more flowy and ends with some awesome descending. Without the big wooden drop, I'm leaning more CW though. All the other trails are definitely better CCW. 🤔
