Fantastic list, but there is one important flaw: The names of the singers are not spelled out consistently. Sometimes it is Last name - First name (e.g. #29 and #12) while sometimes it is First name - Last name (e.g. #28 and #10). For those who are familiar with Japanese names it is not difficult to tell which is which pattern, but I believe most will get quite confused.

@@masteroffootball5828 I'd argue that changed for the better actually. With web manga being a bigger thing by now and them also getting adaptions (Mob Psycho 100 for example), getting your ideas out has become a lot more accessible. Sure that ends up with an oversaturation on content too, but you can't deny that a lot of creative people writing great stories are among those masses. Those will always exist. In the 80s and 90s there's a lot of manga and anime that sucked so much that nobody talks about them anymore, so it gives a false perception because people only talk about the classics that stood the test of time

god i miss the 80's and 90's aesthetic of animation. It was so gorgeous like a beautiful painting over a visually stunning backdrop with real art. Now a days everything is just over saturated with CGI and computerized animation. I mean come on, what happened to the industry. and well im on this subject, what happened to video games as well. The 80's and 90's were the prime decades of entertainment media and I dare anyone to say I am incorrect about that. Just look at all the problems we face now with growing technology, its disheartening to see mediums like this being completely deconstructed into something that is less and less art and more something that resembles photo realism. Hell even nudity was exemplified as something beautiful but also stimulating and arousing with out being presented as like shock value and smut like it is today. I truly miss when these mediums were presented like "art forms" instead of the way everything modernized today to fit our society's conventions and corrupted morality.

For every one good animation of the 90's, there were 10 bad ones. And the same can be said today. The only reason it feels like the stuff today is all garbage compared to then is because time hasn't weeded out the crap yet. There are plenty of great and beautiful anime out there today that in 20 years will be lauded in the same way we 90's kids laude our childhood anime. In fact, here's a list of good anime(both visually and story-wise) just off the top of my head that I think will stand the test of time: Land of the Lusterous The Ancient Magus' Bride Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Sailor Moon Crystal Devilman Crybaby FullMetal Alchemist(both) My Hero Academia Ghost in the Shell Samurai Champloo Paranoia Agent Nichijou Damn near everything by Gaianax/Studio Trigger/Kyoto Animation really(especially KyotoAni. Their shit is gorgeous.) Hell, say what you want about Naruto, Bleach and One Peice, but they're already standing side by side with DragonBall in the halls of Shounen Greatness. They've even done crossover OVA's between them all. And I'm not even going to try to list off all the great anime movies that have come out in the last 10 years. In short: Chill your grill and don't be such a grumpy old fuddy-duddy.

"Nudity was exemplified as something beautiful." I see you haven't watched Crayon Shin-chan or Dragon Ball huh? It frequently exposed/made jokes about shota dicks. Shin-chan's 'elephant' for example. As a fellow 90s kid I don't wanna say this but you're being a boomer. Stop with that way to thinking.

@@BrigadierGinger Some of the animes you recommend from the 2010s-Present era have the animes being rushed or just have bland and generic storyline.

I was born in the year 2000 and 90s anime has a special place in my heart. I grew up watching anime a lot and I honestly believe that nothing could top 90s-early 2000s anime. When my friends would find new anime or being hyped on waiting for new seasonal anime, I would go to the internet to find old anime to watch because that's just my thing and it still is to this day. I'm honestly glad that I was born just in time to witness the big three,Slam Dunk, dragon ball z,initial d,prince of tennis and many others.

I'm probably watching more anime now than I did in the 90s, but damn, it just hit different back then. So many of these shows I only got into after trading OP/ED mp3s with friends in the school computer lab. Thanks for the memories.

Random, but thank you for putting Butter-Fly so high up! My favorite childhood memory was watching Digimon all day long and it seems it doesn't get as much respect as it deserves.
