You had me at- Joust-the Solo RPG 😮 Joust is one of my all-time favorites.

Joust was one of my favorite old arcade games. I was super excited when I got a copy of it on floppy disk for my old Mac in the 90s. Also loved the discussion of Troika and Fighting Fantasy!

I loved Joust. The movement felt so good. One of my favorites as well. Looked really cool as well.

A favourite of mine too. Also I was very competitive against my siblings for the High score in Joust. 😊 Fighting Fantasy my Dad introduced to me as a way to help keep my interest in reading as a kid. 😊 Good memories. ❤😊

@@TheDungeonDive My first character just died, pushed his luck too far in an abandoned castle on a cloud island - while inside, he got locked in, and while figuring out the passcode to the door (by clicking the numbers randomly) he failed on the last number and attracted the attention of... himself! He barely survived the fight with his doppelganger, was able to get the door open and flee to the exit, but then died one room from safety by an enemy that surprised him and thumped him on the back of his head. This is amazing! Can't wait to do another run.

Awesome review, I had heard of this game but had not checked it out. As a huge fan of both Troika and the Dungeon Dive, it was heartwarming to hear you talk about Troika and its lineage a bit. I have run one of Daniel Sell's modules for Troika solo before, his enormous dungeon crawl "Slate & Chalcedony", and it was quite magical. I didn't need to use an oracle, the Mien system plus the implications of the character backgrounds made the adventure write itself. Really prepared me to deftly run the adventure for my friends too.

What a great little game! Thanks for covering it. I'll be subscribing to see what else you cover. This game reminded me a lot of the classic polybagged micro games/pocket games from the late 70s and early 80s. The Hex grid, the layout, the art, the tables. All it needed was a sheet of die-cut counters and some tiny dice and it would be a perfect micro game.

My curiosity about what a solo RPG was led me to your channel. I must have watched half a dozen videos trying to wrap my head around... I guess the source of enjoyment? I didn't quite "get" it. RPGs are things you share experiences with? Or enjoy a good story? This finally made it click. This appears to be like a choose your Own adventure book with numbers and stats. I finally get it. I'm excited. I'm really contemplating buying this now. This sounds so cool.

Right on! There’s so much out there to explore and experience. Personally I don’t like playing games with other people because they may not be vibing with the mood I want, so other people pull me out of game. Also, I don’t like having to rely on scheduling. With solo games I can play when want, how I want. Gaming for me is almost an entirely solo hobby, and that goes for video games as well, as I don’t like multi player video games. :)
@Hyreia2 ай бұрын

Thank you for the vid, it made me pick up this game. I had a question. It says that enemies will fight to the death but there is also fleeing in jousting. If I get a rouge housecarl's bird in jousting to half do they flee and I get a 2d6 attack of opportunity and chase them down or do they stick into the fight until them and their bird are dead?
