750,000 DOMINOES - WDC 2022 - DOMINO VALLEY

Such a phenomenal domino project!! The designs this year were truly spectacular and I love how many of them combine multiple types of tricks in one project! The props/decor are also incredibly impressive and really help to display the theme in creative ways. My favorite projects are probably the spinning UFO's at 13:53 and Labyrinth Maze at 7:56 (the 4-way zipline especially is so cool!) It's neat that this year, rather than watching the end result as a viewer from afar, I am commenting on the video as someone who experienced the event as a builder :D Glad to have been a part of this project, and see the inner workings of the Dutch Domino Team/World Domino Collective up close! Can't wait for next year, and thanks again for hosting such a brilliant event!

When the 20,000+ feature failed to start, and there is still 5 minutes of other toppling going on until the end, what is to stop you from using that 5 minutes to build a line from the end of the full topple into the beginning of that feature's trigger or one of the untouched sides of the feature. Wouldn't that still be allowed and be counted as part of the full topple? The thought being that having multiple starters for safety is part of some larger allowed designs❔

I can not begin to imagine the number of hours and the amount of hard work that went into the development of this display. The planning, engineering, designing and intricacies of the displays really boggles the mind. Even though a few of the displays didn’t go off as exactly as planned it was still a masterful project. My hat’s off to all the young people of this project. Well done, you did yourselves proud.

As someone who saw Domino Day as a kid this has always been 1 of my secret loves. Combined with where my heart lies being an Amusement park this has got to be my favorite Domino video EVER. Also that Merry-Go-Round was a gorgeous piece of work and the way it fell was amazing.

This was an astounding project. It’s enormous, but it’s about so much more than size. Everything is so beautiful and well laid out. The space is well used, and it flows so well. There’s also a good variety of techniques that work well on a large scale like this. I need to move to the Netherlands 🤣

Persoonlijk zou ik het nog mooier vinden om grote projecten alleen vanuit de 'overzichtscamera' te zien vallen zodat je alles goed kan zien, maar misschien ben ik daarin de enige :) Gaan jullie volgend jaar weer werken met losse themagebieden of met 1 verhaal zoals in 2019? Heya! All the dominoes in that setup are resting on a horizontal wooden plank that is supported in the middle by a piece of wood. Using a rat trap, we snap away that little piece of wood in the middle which makes the entire setup collapse! It's such a breathtaking technique 🤩

Please🙏 Can someone explain to me about the " mess ups?" What if someone makes the wrong move while assembling the dominoes or a breeze blowing by , certainly that must have happened, I can't fathom the fact that all these can be lined up perfectly without at least one exterior element that is not/ or may be in their control .to mess it all up before the showtime. The amount of time it requires to put all these dominoes with intricaties. it's mind boggling I can't even imagine the pressure they must endure.

Here is a good question, how long does it take to clean up after you topple the dominos with sorting out the different colors? It must take as long to sort out the colors as it did setting everything up to topple the dominos. It’s one thing to do a small setup but it’s another to sort out 750,000 dominos so you can set up somewhere else.

Hey Tony, great question! It took the entire team 2 full days to clean the whole project up again, including decoration pieces. It’s quite a bit faster than setting them up (which took 2 weeks), because you can be a lot less careful during this process, plus we have some techniques that help us clean up faster (a vacuum especially made to suck up dominoes, a turning table where a part of the team is sorting dominoes all day, a software system that shows for each domino in which box it is supposed to go, etc.)
