No tremors, huh? To me, that sounds like the two plates aren't sliding and scraping past each other like usual, which motion produces the tremors. So when there's no tremors, they are either sliding past each other very freely and not causing tremors, or the plates are locked. If this absence of tremors/motion goes on very long, then the strain would give all at once when the plates shove loose from each other, resulting in the EQ everyone fears. But, that's just an opinion from someone who avoids places that like to fall down. I'm far from being a trained expert.

Good morning TEM. I'm a lifelong learner like yourself, so here's a tidbit...."Ocotillo" is pronounced, "ah ko tee yo." The double "ll" sounds out similar to "tortilla," not how it sounds in "pillow." I've lived in So Cal all my life, but this recent activity finally has me concerned about , "The Big One". Like you say, "Don't be scared, be prepared."

There are actually some interesting research papers online outlining multiple earthquake swarms occurring around the plate boundary prior to the Turkey earthquake..there do seem to be a few similarities between the Turkey earthquake sequence and what is currently happening around the San Andreas.
