Israeli Ambassador to UN rages over Palestinian membership, shreds UN Charter with a tiny shredder

The UNGA on Friday voted overwhelmingly for a resolution asking the Security Council to make Palestine, which has UN observer status, a full member. The resolution was passed by a resounding majority of 143 votes in favour including by India while 25 countries abstained, and nine nations, including the United States and Israel, voted against it. The Israeli envoy Erdan called the resolution a "clear violation" of the UN Charter and said that it subverted the US veto in the Security Council last month. Erdan said he is "holding up the mirror" for General Assembly members while shredding the UN Charter. In a strong display of outrage, Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan shredded the UN charter at the United Nations General Assembly just before it passed a resolution supporting full membership of Palestine.

It takes a large dose of insanity to be spouting such nonsense. I don't understand the logic in calling "Khamas" nazis, terrorists, etc., while simultaneously exterminating a mainly civillian Palestinian population in the Gaza ghetto, and on the West Bank. I also really don't agree with his constant conflation of Palestine and Hamas. Israel is making great PR for Hamas by showing the world that they themselves are way more ruthless and destructive in any way you look at it. If Palestine was recognised as an independent state and if Palestinians had the same rights and equal opportunities to Israelis, the situation would probably not have escalated to the current catastrophe. And I'm fairly certain that if Israel had not escalated their oppression against the Palestinian people during the last couple of years, the Al-Aqsa Flood would not have happened the way it did. (I don't condone the Oct.7 attack, or any attack against civilians, but I had been anticipating an aggressive retaliation from Palestinian militant groups for some time when it happened.)
