Bought one of these as my first printer. Sadly there was something faulty with one of the motors or stepper drivers so one of the axis just didn't work. Support was very helpful though with tips and troubleshooting, and were fairly quick to reply to chat. Couldn't fix the issue though so sent it back to the retailer I purchased from for repair. Hoping for it to return soon, as I've been stoked for getting into 3D-printing for several weeks.

The filament runout sensor unfortunately is not in the right place. From someone that printed for years now, this placement makes itmuch harder to remove old filament without moving the head or the gantry.

Mingda reached out to us, and I told them I would only be interested so long as they published the source for the firmware, as is required by the license of the Marlin firmware. They refused. That's enough for me to discount them completely.
@omegadeepblue1407 Жыл бұрын
Maybe they are going to do it if a lot of users push enough, the same happened with Biqu with the B1 and Sunlu with the T3 Terminator (damn, Sunlu T3 community is small but very dedicated)

Wait a minute how Mingda can approach to you if you don't have reviews on your channel? Do you write for a magazine?
@strangewigglytuff Жыл бұрын
FWIW mingda will send a copy of the source code to anyone who asks for it, and in the official FB group someone has posted a github repo with the source code. i agree that its weird that mingda wont openly publish it themselves and makes us request/hunt around for it, but it has been made available in some capacity

I've been abusing the hell out of this poor little machine for the past 3 plus months Printing almost non-stop 24/7 petg at 240c and it's an absolute trooper and just does not stop My only issue is the bed leveling is fantastic but the offset is inconsistent I have to baby step every other print. Not a deal-breaker but annoying I will look for the firmware update to see if that fixes it Overall I am just seriously impressed with it it's just a Kick-Butt little trooper with a plus-size build volume

I used this thing for only 8 days. It failed. I turned it on one morning and the display didn't turn on. The light in the extruder didn't turn on. The China based support only responds through email. They take 1-2 days to respond. They just told me that I have to PAY to send the defective printer back to them! Really? Good companies don't do that. If you buy one of these things and it fails, you're screwed! Take some time to read their warranty information on their website. It's extremely vague. I got this thing as a birthday gift. I loved it until it failed. I wasn't using it in any way that could have broken it. I just printed some really nice stuff. I am offended that Mingda thinks it's OK to make me pay for shipping! That is a very shady business practice. I will be filing a complaint with the Texas attorney general's office. I will leave negative reviews everywhere I see this product being sold. They just pissed off the wrong customer.

I'm definitely interested in a quiet printer.... although the lack of open firmware does put me off. I guess klipper is out of the question on this machine? I could see this fit into an education context, but being locked to a fairly unknown company is off-putting. In 2023, no one should be using styrofoam. It's a horrible material. Forget the plastic. Stop using it period!

depends on what you mean by "awful support." in my experience their response to customer issues are very prompt and they are willing to help you any way they can...but theyre also pretty averse to performing exchanges/refunds, which i wish i knew before buying my machine. its very much a double edged sword where they will help you but they also really really /really/ dont want to send you a whole new printer lol
