Hi everyone. I missed the link in the video originally but you can order the P1S here from Bambu. Just to confirm this is an affiliate link but again I will stress I would not recommend this printer or use their links if it was not as good as I said it is. I very carefully use links on my channel and the very fact I’m using them is a sign of trust I have for Bambu and their products. shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=2377904&u=2831068&m=138211&urllink=&afftrack=

@@MadRC We have an X1C for testing purposes at the moment and it really is great, but there is one big show stopper that keeps me from dropping all our Crealitys, Sovols, Prusas etc. - and that is the proprietary approach of Bambu Labs. 3D printing is *only* where it is today because it comes from the open source community and was not padlocked behind patents, undocumented tech, lawsuits, greed and big corp pressure. I've read the statements from Bambu in regards of open source and frankly, their stance on it is pretty upsetting, even if hidden behind well written nothingness. As it stands, getting those printers puts you in a perfect vendor-lock-in scenario, and with 30+ years of experience in the tech sector I dare say, that is something you really, really want to avoid. It's MacOS all over again: take something the community created, close it down, put some proprietary parts on it and thus defile the whole idea it was based on.

Hi ! Thank you for this video! I've been watching this P1S for a few days now and just discovered your channel. I love the fact that you're transparent about affiliate links and the fact that Bambu sent you this printer! The LAN only mode having one lose functionalities that should not (in my opinion) require the use of a cloud is a real shame. I don't want any form of cloud, and I don't want to then pay for a camera that I wouldn't be able to use. Not sure yet if it's a dealbreaker for me, but that's certainly a blow.

As a noobie, I'd watched many dozens of 3d printer reviews, setup tutorials, Mfg problems, trouble shooting and studied up on the different filament types before contemplating a purchase. I decided on the X1-C w/AMS and after several weeks of use, i bought another with 2 additional AMS units! It's an absolute joy to use, especially for a noobie not wanting to fiddle with settings and such, my time is valuable to me and having a print and forget (for the most part) is great!

@@thatCbean I'm probably grabbing the X1C next month, coming from an Ender 3 which I've had since december 2018. I feel like it's only a logical choice because by now I've had my fair share of experience with tweaking, tuning, debugging and upgrading my 3D printer. Now I just want something that just works perfectly out of the box, can print better materials, can print faster, can print multiple colors or materials, and with a bigger build volume so that I can iterate faster on parts for my hobbies and functional use. I enjoy fiddling around with this tech, but when I just want to print something without having to wait around the printer for 10 minutes to make sure the first layer sticks properly etc., it can be quite demovitating and I think it's the reason I haven't used the printer that much and haven't printed many big parts because of common failures.

Great write up and I agree with what you say in regards to the p1s, my only very slight niggle with the p1s is that some times the first layer can play up, but as you mention in the video keep an eye on the first layer then you can walk away from the print. Just to add I have only had minor issues with the first layer due to using the cool plate option 35deg c. Little bit of glue on the pei sheet and it's golden. Also I think if they adjusted the print head g code to wait until the nozzle to hit tepreture instead of starting the print run when the head is a couple of degrees lower this will help as well.

@MadRC , I am bummed that I got mine before you posted this video, or I would have indeed used your affilliate link to support your amazing work. I just wanted to say that I too have the P1S and it just worked brilliantly right out of the box. I have printed literally dozens of things up to this point and have never had a single issue or print failure. I did not get the version with the AMS because I just don't need it for the kind of printing I regularly do, but I DO use it to make multi-color TPU prints and the ease with which you can change filaments at specific layers is absolutely amazing. You simply right click on the layer in Bambu studio where you want to change the color, and insert a "pause" and then either use Studio or the touch pad to unload and then reload the new filament and hit "done", then press the "play" or continue button and the P1S picks up right where you left off and creates PERFECT multi layered color prints. It is absolutely mind blowing how easy and how good it is. Great video, great review and my experiences 100% mirror yours sir.

Buying a P1S myself. This will be my second 3D printer. My current printer is an inexpensive ANET ET4 and although it can print well at slow speeds. It's biggest drawback in the capacitive sensor used to sense bed leveling. It will often drift depending on temperature and becomes a pain having to re-adjust the sensor with a small screwdriver before every print cycle which can take 30 minutes or more. I'm hoping this printer will allow me enjoy more print time and less screwing around time. I'm going to try bed leveling the ET4 printer by adding a single optical sensor on the Z axis to detect the bed level without a sensor on the print head. If the bed is level, then one point alone should dictate the level. Wish me luck.

Possibly one of the most complete, fair/unbiased, and concise reviews of any product that I've ever seen. That being said, I still can't decide! LOL I've been working with an Ender 3 V2 Neo for about the past year, and I have really got myself dialed in with both the printing as well as my CAD skills and I think it's time to upgrade. You are absolutely on the money concerning P1S vs X1C. After the simple upgrade on P1S, of changing the hot end and extruder, gear you have what X1C can do. As for the display panels, I can't justify $500 for the difference. In fact what I can justify is the fact I already have 2 and am shooting for another 2. Four of P1S at $950 ea is $3.8g. Four of X1C is $6g. That's a lot of cash difference which can now go to alot of Ale, with a zero compromise in output quality.

Have been diving into Bambu for my next printer (have a MK3S+ now) and found this the best and most useful video. I love that you focus on real usage situations and not just drilling all the same things all the others do. One extra thing I prefer the P1S for (vs the X1C) is that It's (apparently) slightly less noisy. Although It's probably such a minor difference they'll both sound noisy. Did you experience any differences on sound levels? The noise is the biggest reason the MK4 is still in the mix.

Best explanation video of differences between P1S and X1C that I have seen! I'm going for the Bambu Labs P1S. Given your explanation, I can live with a lower quality camera (I've never had one before, so this is already a step forward). I can live with having to use the SD card every now and then for the timelapses. And for the price difference, I would rather upgrade the P1S with, among other things, different nozzles and buy a Bambu Labs A1 Mini that I then use for small and 0.2 prints, for example. Or a resin printer instead of the A1 Mini. I can live with the difference in screen. And a side that has not yet been treated. If the screen ever breaks, the P1S replacement screen is significantly cheaper (almost 5x) than an X1C replacement screen. Thank you for the very clear explanation.

I've been FTP to my P1S to get timelaps and such off it. It saves me having to take the SD card in and out. Only issue is its slow. 250kbs max. and if the printer is doing anything then its half of that if your lucky. Only other kinda issues ive had have been the camera. It just pauses and does not update after 10-20 mins. The handy app is the same. The older versions of studio would then freeze and crash. New one freezes but you can switch off the video and then back on and it works again. The Cloud printing is useful but i would prefer to use Lan mode and have camera and also it been nice to have print history and stats thats not just in the handy app. I have had times where its been super slow to upload and or download from the cloud. Hopefully they will update this in the future. Hardened gears and hotend upgrade only cost me 50 quid more. Only other thing id say is i dont think you mentioned the print bed surface. The P1S comes with a very nice double sided PEI textured steel sheet which is different to both the other printers in the line up. Cheers.

great review, great printer and I guess I will get one later this year during the sales season in November. I'm not in a hurry and usually would have started with a lot cheaper just to get into it and sell it if I would outgrow. I also do not like that camera quality cause for such an expensive product they can not cut the cost at the final 10 or 15€ for a better camera, which is a shame. Will end in 6 months with a new offer: we listened: 60€ and you get a better camera Which I would hate to see cause they had done it wrong from the beginning. But after my overall good dji product experiences I might go with this one even though I hate to see all the registration and cloud and privacy issues considering that there is no need at all for that. I will look for a buddy who has bought one and let me know his experience but the most recent purchases were elgoo pro 4 or so.

The KE's were definitely an upgrade and printed nicely when they worked. One printed flawlessly. The other was wrought with issues .. all resolved with work ... then it suffered a catastrophic failure on the hot end. I took them both back and bit the bullet buying a P1S and an AMS. It prints like a dream with no print cleanup necessary when designed and oriented correctly. But either one and you will be happy!

Does this mean that, for example, it will print lithophane 10*10 cm within two hours? Do you have experience with printing the lithophanes and what are your impressions regarding the precision and details of the printing? Does this printer have the ability to work only with FDM material or? Does the software come with it or not? Sorry for the many questions, but simply no matter who I ask, no one can give me an answer, not even the distributors for 3d printers - not even in general about the printing speed. Should I choose the new A1 with AMS lite over the P1S?. The X1C is out of my price range. I'm thinking of future proofing. The A1/AMS seems to be the best value (And provides color options) but cannot print ABS, ASA etc. For the P1S I know I can purchase the AMS later if I need multiple color, and its provides the enclosure for ABS, ASA etc later if I decide the graduate to those filaments. Right now I'm torn on which to choose. Bed slinger or XY. The price of the P1S is like $150 dearer than the A1/AMS. Can you help guide me on best option here between the 1. I have excluded the P1P

I had a PrintrBot and it was a shame to see them dissolve after having a very reliable product. I was hoping to get your thoughts on the subject of longevity - for Bambu Labs, not their printers. Is this a flash in the pan or do you think they will be around for years like Prusa? It would be disappointing if they went under and then consumers had no access to spare parts or repair kits.

Are you able to change the filament color yourself when printing a model you want to have multiple colors without buying the AMS?

It’s loud but it’s not K1 loud. It’s definitely louder than a Prusa but the Creality K1 is louder. The thing with the fast printers is the fans are all jacked up. I did miss this aspect in this review but I will be covering it later in a comparison.

Just looked at Bambu's accessories site for P1P (not P1S) upgrades and I couldn't find the cavity temperature sensor. So even if you wanted to make you own enclosure for the P1P, it looks like you couldn't get the cavity sensor. That's a reason for getting the P1S. But I hope Bambu makes that available for all the P1P users out there would would like to enclose their printer.

I got into 3D printing a few years back with a AnyCubic Vyper. It was a pretty good printer and my only real issue had to do with storing stringiness, but was resolved when I dehumidified my reels. I looked for a step up and decided on the P1S with AMS as I was looking at multi-color printing. As former electro-mechanical tech, this machine is well built and impressive; is it well very well built. Also, this machine is speedy, produces great quality prints, and I am definately a fan. I purchased the PS1 as the X1 was a bit out of my price range, and am not sorry about my purchase. I had a party and gave away 3D prints as prizes, and every who asked about 3D printing got my unsolicited Bambu labs recommendation. If someone is looking for their next 3D printer, I have to say, the Bambu printers are in a league of their own and recommend them wholeheartedly.

Only issues I've had with my p1s is warping when printing with ABS prints and some with ASA. Not sure if the x1c handles those filaments better? That and carbon may be my excuse to get a x1c as well.

I've just used your link to purchase an X1-C. Not sure if you still get a payment as I'm UK.. Took all your review on board and you are probably right, X1 may not be worth the extra but I didn't want to regret not going for the X1.. I have an original Ender 3 which I have been using for 4 years, an Ender 5 and CR-10.. Looking forward to a trouble free multi colour printer..

As someone who is still considering getting into 3D printing, and has been watching SOOO many videos on different printers, I will admit that I do like the look of the Bambu Lab offerings! I was considering the P1P - but with the release of the P1S, I think that, when I can afford it, I will more likely be going for the P1S! I just want a printer that works straight out of the box, produces good quality prints, and doesn't cost the Earth - and the P1S seems to fit the bill! 😃

Hey so what do you think? Slicer aside, has it been as user friendly as you had expected? Im not new to 3D printing, just kind of over the whole tinkering process. I just ordered a P1S today for, mostly, my son's sake. The ender 3 we have is a bit too discouraging with all the failed prints and tweaking required to make it print well on his own. Hoping the P1S will be way closer to plug and play for him.

@@DoggMatik I am very happy with it. It just works more or less perfectly out of the box. I printed a lot of stuff without major issues, and the issues i had was mostly my own fault by messing up slicer settings and thinking i knew more than i did ^^. I also had a major clog, again due to my own stupidity and setting the temps too high for pla, and while it was some work to be done to unclog it, It was fairly easy to disasemble and reasemble without any prior knowledge of printers or extruders I have yet to run a fillament calibration and the generic settings have worked really good for me. Print quality has been really good, can't really see layer lines or anything like that. top surface can be a bit hit or miss, but ive yet to have a surface i had to reprint as the quality was to bad. My brother has been 3d printing since more or less the beginning, and he was blown away by the print quality. I am 95% sure you and your son will love it and just do the regular basic maintenance and you will have a printer that works great for years

This was an INCREDIBLE review, thank you, Ian. You answered, genuinely, all my questions. If I could pose one, if you have the time to respond, is the AMS unit worth it if I don’t play to use different colored filaments, at least initially, for the storage and temperature/humidity benefits afforded by it?
@MadRC

Hay thanks for the feedback. As for the AMS it does make a tidy filament storage box however it’s not a drier. It’s only going to keep it as it was of sealed with decant. As for if it’s worth it there are some good filament driers for much cheaper. However what is handy is using it as a store and easy swap

@@hillnothey both print the same, I actually use my P1S more since I have PLA loaded into it and have ABS in my X1C. But I have used ABS on the P1S and it had identical print quality. With all the upgrades Bambu had done to the P1S the list of items exclusive to the X1C is very minimal and I’m sure over time will be non existent (from a software side). The X1C has a faster processor for things other than printing, when it comes to printing they are both press start and print. I have had 3 failures on the P1S out of like 100, and that was due to me not wiping off the build plate every so often. Save the cash and buy the P1S!

6 months and a few firmware updates later, how much of a difference do you think the lidar makes now? If the P1 had a better camera and and screen, I wouldn't even think about which one to get, but, that's where I am. I plan to print most all materials (Nylon, ASA, etc etc) and I wonder how much time/filament the lidar saves in calibrating.

At about 5:20 it should be noted that Bambu states you should not use abrasive filaments (such as Carbon Fiber) with the AMS.
@carsonhunt4642
@carsonhunt4642 3 ай бұрын
Is that still the case? That makes me lean towards not getting it then. Cf needs to stay enclosed more than most other filaments. Rather just get a nice drier box , manual changing filaments doesn’t seem hard to do
@conorstewart2214
@conorstewart2214 10 ай бұрын
It would be interesting to see them compared for higher temperature filaments like nylon and polycarbonate, they seem to be where the x1c is better due to the higher bed temperature and probably better enclosure. It would also be interesting to see how useful the lidar is for more exotic filaments like varioshore and lightweight PLA where the line width does change and without the lidar would require manual calibration. Most normal filaments will behave much the same so that reduces the usefulness of the lidar and calibrating extrusion for different types of PLA or ABS isn’t something you have to do even on a basic ender 3.
@_droid
@_droid 8 ай бұрын
Does anyone know WHY the X1 has a higher bed temperature? Is there an actual reason or is it artificial? I hear different things like the heater element is smaller on the P1 and the material of the bed but in my experience using other printers I can get 110C+ even on old wimpy little 12V printers with terrible beds and heaters, it's just a lot slower.

I've had my P1S for less than a week and have used it more than my first printer which I got some months ago. I considered the X1C but (as stated) the same money will get the P1S and the AMS but also the hardened gears and hot end. Sure, the screen is basic and the camera is slow the respond but the printer is amazing. Loud as hell but the app allows you to control the fans which makes a huge difference.
