The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

What people consider beautiful music has dramatically changed in the last 60 years. Very sad indeed.

Although the footage of Debbie singing "It's a Miracle" was included in a syndicated Best of Sullivan episode, this is the first time we get to see the entire film clip with Ed Sullivan talking to Debbie, and on the set of the "The Singing Nun". It was very interesting! Debbie had a few big record hits on the charts. In 1951, she scored a number 3 Pop success with the song "Aba Daba Honeymoon" sung with Carleton Carpenter. Later, of course, she had a beautiful number 1 hit with the song "Tammy" in 1957 from her movie "Tammy and the Bachelor". "A Very Special Love" charted in the Top 40 in 1958, and "Am I That Easy to Forget" in 1960. Her last charter was "City Lights" also in 1960. Debbie had a nice voice!

Manners, poise, a beautiful voice. And HIGH MARKS for her guitar playing. Nobody pays much attention, but those are some pretty non-trivial chords she is ripping through on this, and she's not faking it.
