How hard is it to get a buck that big on public land in Michigan? Do you consider him to be a big buck?
@kylen19223 жыл бұрын
It realy depends where u are at. I'm just west of where u are and thats a shooter. 130 is very respectable deer. But it's not uncommon to get 150+ on camera. The deer in Michigan are very smart. But there is no shortage of critters.

Deer in Michigan have the best teachers.... Anything that's graduated into the 130's has a PHD in art of diapering into thin air, just to show back up after hunting season. I have hunted/ harvested many deer here and have had my far chance at connecting with some good deer..... But I have found Michigan deer hunting makes me an absolute geniuses when I hunt out of state. Other states have some really stupid deer that never graduated past the 8 th grade but support 140's+. So have fun and good luck if you do come to Michigan you have allot of learning to do.

i would argue that Michigan has one of the highest pressure of hunters relative to other states. As such the deer are skittish. The other issue is that for years it has been see brown and shoot. Up until antler restrictions took effect it didn't allow deer to mature. 3 years ago I tried a new to me spot for gun opener. When it was light enough could see 4 other hunters all looking at the same little bowl. I decided it wasnt a safe location, and moved. About 10 minutes later it sounded like world war 3 over there. Come to find out a small 6 point walked in....and no less than 15 shots were taken. Stupidest thing I ever heard. Private land is WAY different than public.

He’s not bad. Probably the only mature buck in a square mile. Lol MI deer are smarter than the average bear. Make sure you’re 22ft up or you’re not going to have a fun hunt.
@blakeensing73763 жыл бұрын
And sorry to burst your bubble, but MI is the hardest state to kill a mature buck in. And it only took me 2 min to find that exact spot where your camera is. Public land hunters in MI drive 2001 chevys and gmcs lol
@TheElementWild3 жыл бұрын

@@blakeensing7376 Yea we don't live or hunt in MI so we we're just making silly assumptions as to what people drive. It was pretty obvious that y'all don't all drive the same vehicle while we were up there. Also, we don't consider that "our spot". We just hung a camera there to show people that getting out and scouting pays off. Rams are cool!
@SMSCHA3 жыл бұрын
You should have gone to Northern Michigan for your hunt. Southern Michigan is easy to hunt with heavy deer density and decent size bucks.
@TheElementWild3 жыл бұрын
So we should go to the place with less deer and smaller bucks?
@SMSCHA3 жыл бұрын
@@TheElementWild not saying that you should but if you want to know why people say it’s harder to hunt deer in Michigan you have to hunt in other areas too. Plus you showed us pictures of a decent buck on public land but have you shot a decent buck on public land😉 I don’t disagree that you can’t get a decent public buck in Michigan but when the orange army starts blasting away at doe before bow season starts the game definitely changes a bit. I hunt both private and public and I hunt Southern Michigan and Northern Michigan, I have plenty of nice southern Mi bucks but yet to get one from up North. I see at least one every other year up there on average but seeing a shooting are two different things.
