Gwyneth Paltrow Cooks with Ellen

The multi-talented Gwyneth Paltrow shared a couple of easy and delicious recipes from her new cookbook.

For those interested (or if the show wants to let Gwyneth know), the reason why you put the rice in a cross is to measure the right amount of broth. You're supposed to add in enough broth to cover all the cross except for an area of about 1 centimetre wide at the top. This way, it will take the exact time for it to evaporate and the rice to be perfectly cooked.

I'm spanish and I love how Gwyneth promotes our food and our products (like that Pimentón de la Vera can, sooooo tasty). Everyone should try and make some paella with this recipe. It tastes awesome!!

A few yrs ago Gwyn got on everyone's nerves, especially when she issued that "conscious uncoupling" statement following the break-up w Chris Martin. People viewed her like an out of touch spoiled ass. But she's proven to be a hands-on mom, cook and business woman with a surprisingly wacky sense of humor who has now earned respect. Maybe she just needed more time for the public to understand her, but she's also worked on becoming more approachable to the public. She gets my vote.

@MrCFCarePOO Depends where you come from (age, socio-economic class, etc). There's a reason Americans still have the term "soccer / suburban mom." I come from a very affluent California suburb, where families could afford to hire personal chefs or go to restaurants every day. Still, cooking at home (and having family dinners a few times a week) is upheld. And all of my friends in the midwest and south were brought up on homecooked meals. It really just depends upon where you come from in the US

oh, by the way: you put the rice on a cross shape so you can see the amount of water to add. She obviously didn't catch that part properly, as you need to add the water slowly till it reaches the top of the rice.

@alesbica thats how we pronounce it when we use it in our language :)) like for example: the japanese pronounce lesbian as rezubian cuz they dont have an "L" in their language. its something like that for us. and before, the spaniards colonized us and they didnt want us to speak in spanish; thats why they taught us to ponounce it like that in our language :))
