I recall loving the feel of onion skin paper. ‘Back in the day’ we could buy it in pads and it was known as airmail paper. For those who would write to military,or family, overseas the onion skin paper cost less to mail. It was a wonderful paper and wish we could get again.

I wonder if using white ink/gel pens on one side and the black or a darker colour on the other and then using a piece of paper that’s white one side and black/whatever other colour you used would work to allows you to fully write on and use both sides of a sheet without making it difficult to read? Kinda like hidden text? Does that make sense?

G & Q, I was intrigued to see the 'British Rail' train ticket in the latter of your journal to-date, tho' given this video was presented to KZbin in May '21, I am intrigued that during the Pandemic (at its height) you might procure such a ticket - unless of course you are based in the UK. This is merely an observation of course.... For myself, I tend to use Onion skin as diaries, & write only on one side - similarly, I was taught to write letters in the same fashion - irrespective of paper type. I would concur that DeAtramentis 'Fog Grey' permanent ink is the most conducive for transparent paper stock. Interesting, tho' not unusual choice of journal, Thank you.

Would this work for other pens? Not fountain inks. Love a thin crinkly paper.
@GirlandQuill3 жыл бұрын
I just posted on KZbin and my IG a photo of non-fountain pen inks, no smearing, barely any drying time and so far, most pens work/glide smoothly on the paper, exception is perhaps any oils from my hand may cause the inks to not take on the paper right away, so beware of using hand cream or lotion when touching the pages.

You mentioned that you used tracing paper for journaling, how does this journal paper compare to tracing paper?
@GirlandQuill3 жыл бұрын
This paper is very similar to trace paper, both take fountain pen and gel pen ink very well with no bleeding and drying time is quick. The only difference, to me, is that I can’t get trace paper bound into notebook form unless I do it myself. :) Onion skin has a smoother finish and feels a bit more substantial.
@clc38973 жыл бұрын
@@GirlandQuill thank you for your response. I’ve discovered that not all tracing papers are created equal. My favorite tracing paper is Canson Tracing Paper in 25lb weight. It resembles velum paper only it is much thinner and from what I have just yesterday discovered it takes fountain pens beautifully. I will try to put together a small journal using one of my 50 sheet pads that comes in a 9”x12” size. Folded in half that should give me a 6x9 journal with 200 pages. I’ve never considered how beautiful translucent paper can look when you have a ton of journaled pages such as you do. This really opens up a whole new of journaling. It's not as thin as onion paper, but the Tomoe River FP Loose Sheet, 11.7 x 16.5 Inches (A3-size), White, 50 Sheets/Pack (TMR-A3P-W) on Amazon is a nice substitute - and has a heaviness to it.
