the "Prater" is the whole green area with alluvial forests a bunch of meadows and some lentic waters in the middle of the town and it is round about 6 squaremiles wide..the "Wurstelprater" is the amusementpark within the "Prater" at the very beginning of the western Prater side ..and Wintertime is not "Wurstelprater-Season" as you have noticed...and "Riesenrad" is pronounced kinda like "Reesenrad" meaning "Giant Wheel"...."ie" = pronounced kinda like "eeeh" and "ei" is pronounced kinda like "aye" And "Yes" finally the "Käsekrainer!! the best grilled sausage in town!!! As you tried to bite in that saussage and before you actually bit I saw it coming and it did the cheese oozed out like purulence...you simply bit from the wrong side...but you are not alone everyone faced at least once such a cheese-mess..but nevertheless it was very funny to watch... The only sad thing was no snow at the Christmasmarkets..the atmosphere is so much different if it´s snowy...

Viennese Prater is closed from Nov - May, that's why it was so empty!! Only a few rides are open in this period and typically the 1st of May (labour day) is opening day and you can't move because of the amount of people there :D
@martin.hillebrand6 жыл бұрын
In Germany / Austria it is quite common that you give back the cups. Actually it is *not* that you buy the cup - and can re-sell it to the booth. It's more that you make a deposit for the cup and you get it back when you return it. So it is ensured the people at the booth keep their cups and that they are re-used (after dishwashing them, of course). In Germany, depending on where you are, you must not use one-way / throw-away paper/plastic cups on events such as christmas markets. They're forbidden. Whereas one-way dishes with plastic forks and knives are still allowed...

You have to eat the black bread to the käsekrainer because this is a sort of bread that matches perfectly to this sort of sausage. And black bread is more healthier and more sating than white bread and much more than toast.

Prater is awesome and the Reisenrad is an experience, creaked more than i’d have liked!! In the park we also got a garlic butter flatbread that was really thin and crispy and was easily 18 inches in diameter. Awesome.

@michaelgrabner89776 жыл бұрын
@@thecassman Well...it´s typical Viennese so to say because our Langos is a little bit different in comparision to Hungary = ours is very thin and crispy and we eat it pure with just garlic on it ..Hungary´s is a bit thicker and they put a lots of different stuff on it like for instance sour-cream, cheese what ever...and therefore we eat it vertical and they have to eat it horizontal otherwise the added things would fell on the floor..
