I love it for the tourists that its catered for them at rathausplatz but I still think its so funny you catch many locals dead at that market xD just a hint for the people that want a more local experience i reccomend karlsplatz, MQ or spittelberg :)

As a Brit, I had to laugh at 4:01 - you're at this amazing, picturesque Christmas market in Vienna, then it cuts to this very underwhelming, not-at-all Christmassy vibe in Bath! We don't really do Christmas markets well in the UK - they are expensive, and generally full of stalls selling tat. I think you have to go to Austria/France/Germany for the real thing.

Leavenworth Washington is the best place to celebrate Christmas if you can’t get to Europe, but I’m pretty sure you guys have already been there. (It’s also the best place to go for Octoberfest if you can’t get to Europe). They have lots of great shops and restaurants with beer gardens and Oompa bands and a little sledding hill right in the middle of town. It’s in between some mountains. Lots of outdoor activities year round. Very pretty.

Great video (as always)! I enjoyed watching as I sip mulled wine. I've not been to a true Christmas market, so can't speak to that, BUT St. Charles, Mo. has a wonderful Christmas festival, called Christmas Traditions. Every weekend (and Wednesday nights) between Thanksgiving and Christmas, various Christmas characters roam historic Main Street. They have a daily parade, and you can collect the trading cards given by each character. Perhaps stop by there next year if you visit Missouri.

Prague at Christmas is fantastic. There's large basins of wood fired pork roasting on spits that perfume the area. There's also a pastry turned on a spit called trdlnik (sp?) The old town Czech architecture is magical. Take a walk around the Jewish quarter for unique trinkets that aren't in other markets.

We just did a trip to the Christmas markets around Wolfgangsee in Austria!The lake is surrounded by three towns all of which have different Christmas markets, and a ferry runs in between them on the lake. One of the towns has a train that goes to one of the peaks for awesome views. It’s neat because each of the three towns has a very different vibe. It’s on the bus route out of Salzburg so you can home base there and hit the markets there too! Highly recommend for next year!

My favorite Christmas market in Germany has to be Cologne. It is in the old town (Altstadt) and really gemuehtlich. There is no English word for that. Vienna has a lot of small local markets around every corner, and the big one at Schonbrunn palace was my favorite.
